Biden starts out "well" and then fades in debates. At this point it's a clear trend. It's almost like watching a football team that has a decently crafted opening drive dialed up by the OC, and then after that everything slowly turns to shit as the defense adjusts in subsequent drives.

Shame to see Beto commit political suicide on gun confiscation. If the El Paso stuff (his speeches, Trump attacking him, etc) didn't move the dial an inch for him, I don't see how this debate will either. And man was it weird seeing damn near the entire stage constantly dapping this dude, like he isn't stuck at 3% in polls.

Warren is clear, concise, etc...until it's time to talk about middle class taxes being raised for healthcare. Yes I understand the argument about total cost...but that's not what the average person is going to hear. Good luck with that shit brehs.

Sanders looks as bad as Biden sounds...

Damn shame seeing Yang, who is actually a pretty smart guy and understands policy, turn himself into a caricature.

If Pete was straight and married to a black woman he'd be the front runner.

...

still think Warren is gonna win. Still not sure she can beat Trump. I definitely expect a 2012 type money burial, where she wins the nom and immediately gets torpedoed with ads like Romney did. And unlike Romney, I don't really see her raising the money to come back a bit.

Just came across this:
https://www.rawstory.com/2019/09/watch-michael-moore-got-in-shouting-match-with-bill-maher-and-the-comedian-lost-an-expensive-bet/
Moore correctly claimed that Obama purposely used his middle name on the polls.
(The clickbait article above hilariously misspells Hussein as "Hussian")

Entire video here, you should watch it if you have a few minutes: https://vimeo.com/359917272
Maher is an ass and also wrong; I mean his opinion in general, not just the bet. He got schooled by Moore, imo.
Maher seems to be turning into a Republican.

The following "Overtime" discussion was interesting, too:

Get their ass queen!

https://twitter.com/Deoliver47/status/1172657743238508544

Like everybody from Dkos staff, she completely insufferable and has been at least since Hillary Clinton broke their brains in the 2016 primary. She wrote all sorts of nonsense about Bernie Sanders being racist.

She now spends her time saying Democrats are racist for not supporting Kamal in the primary, somewhat irrationally claiming that she is the choice of  black women and so if wypipo want to vote like black somebody they should vote for 12.

When it’s clear that old southern Black women are actually going to bring us into ruin by heavily supporting the guy who doesn’t know how to use fixodent or get dental implants.

LMAO at Beto "hell yes" comment. What a moron.

While expanding the Overton Window he's also:

1. Proving Republicans right about Democrats that they've been talking about the entire time of Obama that Democrats denied
2. Turning off independents
3. Characterizing his party as for this
4. Placing distrust into the soup by giving people a reason to trust Democrats on guns

He basically poisoned two decades of Democratic Party rhetoric to sell t-shirts.

Could help the Democrats lose the election too.

And he said it in Houston. :dead That no compromises shit that lost him an election against Ted Cruz is what he's going for on the national stage and in the end it just makes him look like a self serving moron. That sort of talk won't work in Texas, much less the national stage.

But how do you plan on coming to take the guns, Beto? State violence. I see. So one violence is good, another bad. I might vote write in no matter who wins the Democratic nomination at this point. The party is just as insane as the Republicans but on the opposite end.

How?

How is he coming to take the guns? Is he going to personally knock on my door? Nah, he's gonna sends cops. Bubububu cops are KILLING BLACK PEOPLE!!!!!11 :stop

Meanwhile, the country is running literal concentration camps.

It's gotten to the point where they just oppose each other just to oppose each other. Republicans like guns, therefore the Democratic party has hate them to stay on message even when there's literal concentration camps being made. Both sides are partisan for the sake of it to help their brand differentiate from the opposition. It would be uncouth to continue to participate in such a divided system.

If he's going down that path, I would think a mandatory gun buyback with a hefty tax penalization for not forfeiting ownership would probably get the best results and cause less violent turmoil than sending cops after everyone. (In my opinion, pandora is outside the box in a way, but common sense gun control still... makes common sense.)

Also, I only associate O'Rourke with focusing on restricting automatic weapons like AR-15s. Is Beto really in favor of taking handguns and hunting rifles?

If every citizen had guns there would be no border detention camps? :dunno

I'm not in favor of deporting illegal immigrants, but I definitely don't think you should own a gun in the US if you're undocumented.

I could also do without the wishy washy, defeatist TIMU rhetoric. Easier to blame the system and depersonalize it, thus making the task of changing it insurmountable, than admitting that every system is still led by fallible human beings who can be replaced or whose minds can be changed.

No.

He said.

"Hell yes. We are coming for your guns"

If you don't participate in the buyback (which MOST won't do source: https://www.forbes.com/sites/frankminiter/2015/06/24/nearly-one-million-new-yorkers-didnt-register-their-assault-weapons/#3c851824702f), they'll have someone knocking on your door as it's mandatory. That's the only way he can hope for that to be mandatory.

TLDR: Beto O'Rourke issued a threat of state violence on national television at a democratic debate.

This will naturally create more Timothy McVeigh's who find this an assault on them which will breed more domestic terrorists.

I've now read some of Beto's arguments. He's counting on SCOTUS to classify assault rifles specifically (not all guns) as dangerous and unusual, which they probably won't since there's so many out there, but that's really W's fault for not renewing the 94 ban.

IMO assault weapons have no legitimate use in the United States, and should be banned. This common sense from 25 years ago somehow escapes us today. I'm sure it has nothing to do with NRA bribing GOP officials, though.

What you don't understand Tasty is almost every gun owner views Beto's statement as a threat of violence. He didn't say anything about buybacks. He's past that. He said "we're coming to take your guns." That implies violence. Take is different from buy. Take is the emphasized word. Beto issued a threat. It doesn't matter if you don't view it as a threat. Others will.

This just reinforces my view that gun owners are too paranoid for their own good and should probably not own guns anyways.

It was a statement by a floundering candidate who's polling at 1-2% and desperately trying to go viral, anyways.

Cindi, remember when some NY politician proposed using people's social media for gun background checks and you were just as riled up as you are now? Same shit. It was never going anywhere.

The thing is, do they REALLY expect gun owners to support a registry now that you have a democratic candidate openly saying "we are going to take your AR-15"?

:sabu

You just confirmed the fears. You confirmed the distrust. Now you lost the narrative. You can't say,"no one is coming for your guns!!!" anymore. Because you just confirmed to people that you are. Now you gotta stick to your (lol) guns and convince people on fence why they're worth taking and if taking them is possible without violence. You lost the plot and likely the argument for by doing this, Beto.

And let's be honest. Any progressive or socialist that supports such policy is 100% a fraud.
