I bet $10 that Melania caught Barron with something a staffer left on the table after he could no longer vape and that she forced Trump to make that video.

With Biden broke, Wall Street and Silicon Valley scared of Warren, the USS Trump aims its guns at the rest of the field.

https://mynewsla.com/business/2019/10/25/los-angeles-nonprofit-for-youth-services-closes-amid-financial-woes/

Some local news. Large non-profit that ran after school programs (including the one on my school site) closes as of Friday, yesterday. This would be funny to me if I didn't have to help clean up the mess.

Quote
Just two years ago, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti praised the YPI for securing $30 million for tutoring and other services, and last year the mayor announced the nonprofit’s involvement in a new city job training program, according to The Times.

Interim YPI Chief Executive Dan Grunfeld, hired last month as part of an effort to save the organization, said he and the board of directors had made an “incredibly difficult” decision to shutter the decades-old nonprofit at the end of the day Friday.

“We have explored every option, but in the end, we have realized that we cannot keep it going,” Grunfeld wrote in a letter to Youth Policy Institute’s employees, according to The Times. “I wish this were not so.”

No idea what happens to the $30 million grant that YPI (the non-profit) got from the city of L.A. and the state of California.

Republicans would need someone who understood the requirements of a national campaign, someone with widespread (and largely positive) name recognition, and someone on the record opposing both Trump and Trumpism.

Senator Mitt Romney is all of those things. Running Romney would immediately alienate the Trump base, but would attract voters from the sensible centers of both parties, along with independents, all of whom seem to be horrified by what they have heard thus far in the Democratic debates.

Romney could play this centrist position to devastating effect with just about anyone sharing the ticket, but there is one very shrewd move that would allow him to walk into the Oval Office in a landslide: Romney could pick a Democratic running mate.

But he shouldn’t pick just any Democrat. He should pick one with a growing national stature, one with the background to appeal to Republicans and Democrats alike, and one who has openly accused the Democratic Party of playing a rigged game in its primary campaign.

Mitt Romney should pick Tulsi Gabbard.

They agree on little politically, but that is a benefit. A Romney-Gabbard ticket could be based, legitimately, on decency, truthfulness and honor.

Apparently Trump did not tell Turkey about the raid on Baghdadi who was hiding out in a compound in Syria close to the Turkish border.

This is allegedly a US air strike on the ISIS compound

This is allegedly a video of what remains after the raid.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/trump-impeachment-inquiry/here-s-price-mitt-romney-paying-standing-against-trump-n1072111?cid=public-rss_20191027
Quote
Here's the price Mitt Romney is paying for standing against Trump
The Senate's most outspoken GOP critic of the president finds his motives are questioned, and worse.
Quote
One man is an island: Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah.

The 72-year-old former Republican presidential nominee has isolated himself from Republicans in the Senate, in his home state and across the country by occasionally — but strongly — criticizing President Donald Trump, including his efforts to enlist the aid of foreign governments to probe a leading political opponent.

"By all appearances, the President's brazen and unprecedented appeal to China and to Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden is wrong and appalling," Romney tweeted earlier this month.

In recent weeks, the senator's acts of rebellion against the commander-in-chief have been flagrant: from publicly confirming "Pierre Delecto" is the secret identity he used to counter Trump on Twitter to bashing Trump's Syria policy on the Senate floor to positioning himself on the front edge of any move by GOP lawmakers to break away and either censure the president or vote to remove him from office if the House follows through with impeachment.

While that House-side inquiry has put a heat lamp on Republican senators from states where voters aren't thrilled with the president's actions — particularly swing-state lawmakers who are up for re-election in 2020 — Romney's criticism of Trump hasn't prompted those colleagues to follow him into the political no-man's land of finding fault with both the president's conduct and the divisiveness of impeachment.
Quote
Knowing how popular the president remains in the Republican Party — and how afraid GOP members of Congress are of drawing Trump's wrath — Romney was aware that he would be separating himself from the pack when he chose to speak out, as he did during the 2016 election, according to advisers who spoke to NBC on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter on the record.
Quote
As for impeachment, the advisers said, Romney is grappling with his concern that the entire process is bad for the country and will end up being even more divisive no matter the outcome, a worry that he shares with his wife, Ann Romney.
:usacry

Just say all the right words and you get the vote. I would also like to end institutional racism but I'm curious what Biden actually thinks that means.

I'm just annoyed. I think Sanders was a little clumsy but his answer was fine. It was a direct answer and what he said was pretty close to what people tell their kids. Meanwhile Biden is offering me the same police but with the racist bits taken out—whatever that's supposed to mean.

The recent ISIS kill screams late-stage empire and growing irrelevance.  Sure kill a dude thousands of miles away while infrastructure crumbles, global influence wanes, citizens go bankrupt and die on a for-profit healthcare system, the next generation is crippled with student loans, and so on.  But MAGA, right.

If todays media existed in 1945

German painter turned chancellor who advocated regime change in Moscow takes his own life at 58, after tumultuous decade in office

"What started out as a promising career in painting soon turned into a nightmare after Mr. Hitler had to face many dissapointments.
The neighbours remember how the young Hitler was down on his luck after he twice failed to enter art school and could not find an internship.

Mr. Goebbels, who is now the star of the German hit radio show "Muzik Mit Sternen" recalls the better days of the Hitler administration
as we sit down with the former propaganda chief to memorize both the good and bad days of the time he spend with his former boss.

It seems irrelevant because Trump has been saying all month nearly every time he speaks to the press that ISIS has been 100% eradicated, the caliphate is dead, it's done, USA won, Trump not Obama killed off ISIS. But also this is bigger than killing Osama. :lol

Also, the rant how the SDF/Kurds aren't U.S. Allies and the U.S. doesn't own them any protection, should be out of Syria, etc.

I think the whole situation is simpler though is that Trump desperately wants people to talk about anything but Impeachment, and he lucked out that it's an actual achievement that he can push vs. the number of things he usually rants about.
