Explains why it was Flynn Trump was specifically talking about when he was running around the government asking people in the FBI to multiple intelligence chiefs to push back on the Flynn investigation specifically:

President Trump asked two top U.S. intelligence chiefs to push back against the FBI's investigation into possible collusion between Russia and his presidential campaign, the Washington Post reported Monday evening.


According to the Post, the president made the request to Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and National Security Agency Director Adm. Mike Rogers shortly after then-FBI Director James Comey — who Trump fired almost two weeks ago — confirmed the existence of the FBI investigation during testimony before the House Intelligence Committee on March 20:

Flynn is the guy that now I think it is safe to say clearly has the goods on Trump and Trump was trying desperately to find a way to save him so he wouldn’t give up those goods.

Seems like a pretty strong case is being built that Trump ordered Flynn to contact the Russians to help on behalf of his campaign, maybe indicate quid pro quo, and than tried to obstruct justice to cover it up.

The plea deal was being discussed last week, and his lawyer came out of Mueller's office on Monday.

He's pleading guilty to lying to the FBI about something that's not necessarily a crime.

Apparently charging him for something like this would be too uncouth:

It's not the charge he is pleading guilty to that is of interest to Mueller(at least not exclusively), it's the total information he is giving Mueller that is justifying such a large plea deal. What that fully entails we don't exactly know right now.

But if you think Mueller is offering this to the far and away most exposed target(who's son was rumored to be wrapped up in this as well) in this investigation, simply to get him to testify about Trump instructing some norm breaking diplomatic orders to Flynn during the transition, I have a Seth Rich story to sell you for a modest fee.

So on the one hand you have the ABC report hinting at direct allegations toward Trump from Flynn, on the other you have the Washington Post saying their sources point more in the direction of Kushner and transition officials perhaps beneath Trump right now, not wanting to speculate beyond that at the moment:

Apparently the White House is trying to sell the idea that Flynn's discussions with Kislyak were authorized by the Obama administration (thus not violating the Logan Act or whatever).

I guess it's not impossible, but these meetings were reported on back in March and they're only now saying they were authorized? Also, the story was that Flynn had resigned because he lied about that phone call to Pence and some other people? Why would that have happened if it were all kosher?

Republicans are going down with this ship for as long as Trump is the pen that will sign their donor’s tax cuts and he endears more popularity with their base than they do. Same thing occurred with Nixon. So chances are slim.

I certainly wouldn’t put money down in a Predict-It market, but if you had asked me 6 months ago if Flynn and a campaign aide would of turned and we would be speculating whether it is seriously going to finger Kushner or Trump, I probably would of been skeptical of that as well.
 
A better question would be do people think Trump makes it through this without impeachment OR  resigning(convinced or otherwise)? I wouldn’t discount it outright at this point.
