Jesus that dude must love the smell of his feces :lol
That's pretty much what they all say
"If there's no real candidate, I will jump in!"

At which point Bloomberg, Avenatti, Harris, Warren, Biden, Sanders, Zuckerberg, Bob Saget, The Rock, Clinton all try to claim the prize as they don't consider the other a real contender.
It will be the GOP clownshow of the 2012 and 2016 primaries in reverse.

So Northrop Grumman has employed a guy and given him some level of national security clearance. A person who has been identified violently assaulting people as an apparent member of a violent white supremacist organization?

I guess I can see a couple of problems with that.

Schumer is so ineffectual.

I see people railing him for it but then again why not suggest it ? It's not like he has any leverage whatsoever to force Trump on its choice and barely (as of yet) to even mount a credible challenge to the confirmation.

Floating crazy ideas and flattering Trump... In all honestly, it could work. Though I don't think the President is so naive he doesn't understand the SC picks are absolutely vital to his own coalition.

Yeah ultimately there really isn’t anything Schumer can do except ensure his party is unified against any nominee that is to the right of Garland(which he failed to do with Gorsuch). Hoping that at least two Republicans break off and don’t vote for someone that would be too extreme.

Which in all likelihood the Susan Collins of the world will be satisfied with the same evasive/false answers she got from Gorsuch about things like abortion and end up voting their nominee in anyways. I have zero expectation that Trump 1.) doesn’t nominate an ideological extremist and 2.) that any Republicans(save maybe one knowing Pence holds the tie breaker) will go against their party.

I don't actually see the issue with that.

I agree, the U.S. government employing fascists is business as usual.

I don't get the hate, Lanny Davis is just a good guy foreign lobbyist trying to "make bad countries better!!!"

.....For a million dollar retainer fee. Which I think is a totally reasonable price to charge in pursuit of the noble enterprise of helping "reform" dictators.

On the Trump investigation front though, it looks like Mueller is looking hard at the suspicious inauguration spending and where the record setting money disappeared to. Of note, Rick Gates was considered the shadow chair of the inauguration.

Propublica's series did a story for their Trump Inc. podcast on it.

How lovely.

It's not yet confirmed for this particular story but it seems pretty obvious there's been instructions all over the board coming from the political leadership considering the number of stories coming out about ICE, Customs, Armed Forces, etc... (Including on the Northern Border, with Canadian boats being appraised by border patrol).

I'm not one for hyperbole but a systematic policy of arbitrary and cruel vexations is legitimately worrying.

I went to join his facebook yesterday and was blocked by FACEBOOK, they then contacted me via facebook telling me I had to delete anything political before I could carry on using my facebook page! They took me through a process to delete certain comments I'd made and two links that were polictical videos. I also had to redo my password to a new one and then they let me back on...What did it all mean...Well, because THEY got ME to do the deleting it stopped them looking like THEY were stopping all content that had anything to do with polictics. Someone needs to look into this and pass it on to congress, because Facebook are cheating people from having FREE SPEECH on there...You will be blocked and have to remove anything political on your pages before being allowed to continue using it...That's playing nasty Zuckerberg...

https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2018/07/04/democrats-majority-rules-norms-trump-2020-218947
Quote
I’ve come to think that the key text for understanding our era is the 1997 movie Air Bud: “There’s no rule that says a dog can’t play basketball.”
Quote
But the most detailed case against the Return to Normalcy—let’s call it the Normal Is Over side of the debate—is advanced by the political scientist David Faris in his new book, It’s Time to Fight Dirty: How Democrats Can Build a Lasting Majority in American Politics.

Faris’ response to the Normalcy program is that there is no value in conserving a burning house. The endangered state of American liberal democracy, he argues, calls for emergency steps from Democrats and the left. They should take advantage of legal and constitutional silences to “transform American politics in a lasting progressive direction,” Faris writes. “Doing so will require party leaders to pursue policy changes that will be ridiculed by their opponents as outrageous affronts to democratic decency and received by their own voters with puzzlement or even shock. They need to do it anyway.”

The list of those changes is dizzying. Grant statehood to D.C. and Puerto Rico, and break California in seven, with the goal of adding 16 new Democrats to the Senate. Expand the Supreme Court and the federal courts, packing them with liberal judges. Move to multi-member House districts to roll back the effects of partisan gerrymandering. Pass a new Voting Rights Act, including nationwide automatic voter registration, felon enfranchisement and an end to voter ID laws. Grant citizenship to millions of undocumented immigrants, creating a host of new Democratic-leaning voters: “Republicans have always feared that immigration would change the character of American society. Democrats should reward them with their very worst nightmare.”

All of these steps, Faris points out, could be achieved without amending the Constitution. They would rely on new legislation, but more important, on Democrats abandoning any lingering commitment to a norm about power: That legislation cannot have the explicit goal of securing a lasting partisan advantage.
Quote
It’s easy to caricature Democratic willingness to match these tactics as simply a case of playground logic: “Turnabout is fair play.” The law professor Orin Kerr expressed that sentiment last month. “Few things are more corrosive in politics,” he wrote, “than the conviction that you have been wronged so much that you’re justified in breaking all the rules to get even.” But norms are only norms when they are mutual; fairness is only fair when it’s shared. Democrats aren’t justified in breaking norms because they’ve been “wronged.” They are justified because the current system has ceased to function.
Quote
In an interview with Vox, Faris was asked whether he saw an “end game” to the spiral of norm-violation....

https://www.vox.com/2018/5/1/17258866/democratic-party-republicans-trump-election
Quote
I do believe we’ll have to find a way to end this procedural war at some point, but now is not that time. Republicans need to know what it’s like to be on the other end of normative violations.

Ah yes the incredible TIM KAINE.
Such a political heavyweight that he lost the VP debate to Mike "wants-to-hang-the-gays" Pence.

All Tim had to do is re-run the Biden/Ryan debate, which was lit.

You can't possibly lose a debate with a religious zealot who sold his soul to Donald Trump unless your name is Tim Kaine.

Speaking of prosecutorial powers, the government is dropping its remaining J20 cases. That's over a year of trying to prosecute people who protested the inauguration, close to 200 defendants, and I believe a grand total of one felony guilty plea.

Oddly, the people who have been the most vocal about threats to free speech during this time seem to have missed this.

I always wondered why Putin's bois hadn't offed Manafort yet but I now I have my answer.

Jesus, Paulie is in deep as he was practically the viceroy of Ukraine before the whole thing collapsed.
That's also why he's in jail for all the shit he did prior to the 2016 election.
Had he not joined the Trump campaign he (like Flynn) would've most likely gotten away with everything.
