swing state incumbent being absolutely hung out to dry by his leadership

You know who is gonna be high on the "fuck you" list all year? Stacy Abrams and Beto. If they had done the logical thing, ie run for senate, they'd be leading or in contention right now, and we'd be looking at closer to 55-56 seats than 53-54.

For the life of me I can't understand what Abrams is doing. Whether Biden wins or loses, she's gonna be relegated to MSNBC appearances and a lackluster book tour. I of course am assuming there's no way in hell she gets VP.

Probably still in play for a cabinet level post. Maybe secretary of something or Chief of Staff or whatever.

Hyper-inflation is a dumb thing to wish for as it will only further decimate the middle class. Go!

Hyperinflation obliterates savings which can only hurt the 50% of people that even have savings - for everyone else it just relieves their debt burden... regular levels of inflation merely changes the distribution of income... in fact Keynes had proposed paying for world war ii by means of a so-called inflation tax... in any case inflation is hardly worrisome during a deflationary episode like the one we're experiencing and equating fiscal nationalism with hyperinflation is a hundred year old conservative strawman

Democrats are the Party of The State therefore a vote for Biden is a vote for empowering the state by any means necessary, while a vote for OUR PRESIDENT Donald J. Trump could be justified as a vote for both chaos and anarchy allowing the potential chance for a more just stateless society to rise.

In the thick of primary season, Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden brawled over Medicare for All: He called her approach “angry,” “elitist,” “condescending”; she shot back anyone who defends the health care status quo with industry talking points is “running in the wrong presidential primary.”

Six months later, with Biden the presumptive nominee and Warren in the running for VP, she is striking a more harmonious chord.

"I think right now people want to see improvements in our health care system, and that means strengthening the Affordable Care Act," she told students at the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics this week, while adding that she still wants to get to single payer eventually.

The shift is the latest public signal Warren has sent Biden's way in recent weeks that she wants the job of vice president — and wants Biden to see her as a loyal governing partner despite their past clashes, which go back decades.

I think there's stuff in the HEROES act but not the CARES act.

If you're on funemployment, that extra $600 doesn't count towards Medicaid eligibility, but it does count towards subsidy calculations for market plans.  :spin

that's such a weird comparison from timu because Bernie is still caping for M4A weekly. He would gain nothing from "kowtowing" on that.

Warren also gains nothing from a pivot except the very slim chance he picks her as VP, which is why I'm like mega annoyed by it

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the next coronavirus bill would not extend beefed-up unemployment insurance enacted as the pandemic ravaged the U.S. economy, according to a source familiar with his remarks.

The Kentucky Republican made the comment Wednesday on a call with House GOP lawmakers as he talked about priorities for the next phase of the outbreak response, Politico first reported. The $600 per week federal unemployment benefit, which adds to the sum individuals normally get from states, will expire at the end of July.

I read a piece from an Australian or British reporter who was shocked when he finally got to see a Trump speech at the White House for himself.
He said that either everyone in the US has gotten used to interacting with addicts that they didn't notice he was high as fuck or that he was the only one watching who was sober.
He also added that the media and TV broadcasts actually makes him look good in comparison by cutting up his speeches and Trump was way more incoherent than he expected.

Before you could tell when Trump was on something, during his crazy 3 hour CPAC speech for example or when he debated Hillary Clinton. You could sometimes even see when he dialed it back with downers.
Now they're proudly proclaiming that the 70+ year old President is full of energy and rarely sleeps as he stomps towards his helicopter and attends 3 or 4 events a day.

Trump never showed much empathy, boasting about his own buildings on 9/11 but there was a hint of caring and worrying about what had happened. Same when during his campaign those natural disasters struck and he made a few visits. Now with the pandemic he just keeps making jokes. The fact that he shrugged off taking Hydroxychloriquine as if it was just something he added as 'no big deal' to his daily routine was utterly bizarre and instantly made people think that he didn't actually take it.

I think it depends a lot on what you mean by hyperinflation. I can see an argument that  High inflation (call it 5%), in a heavily leveraged economy might be good for the average joe but I don’t think that Weimar Republic style hyperinflation would do anything good for anybody.
