There are endless stories of small business owners who tried and tried to get PPP funds and would just get put on hold for hours and never get a response and couldn't get a PPP loan. Yet NBA teams, big name music acts, churches, etc were able to easily get these funds.
We should be paying for roadies, security, ticket-takers, hot dog vendors, etc. to stay home while live events are cancelled. That's a good thing!
The problems with the PPP came from trying to stand up a massive lending program on short notice and (either to get it through a GOP Senate or because that was the system available to them) doing it through the banks. Millions of people waited weeks before their UI kicked in but we understand this isn't the fault of people who were getting their UI payments.
Stories like this and the one about stimulus checks being sent to dead people (one half of one percent of the total) look like accountability journalism, but they've got nothing to do with the actual crisis. Pressuring politicians to be more careful with the money cannon is pushing in the wrong direction.
