Republicans are considering extending the enhanced unemployment insurance benefit at a dramatically reduced level of $400 per month, or $100 a week, through the rest of the year, sources told CNBC.

Congress passed a $600 per week, or $2,400 a month, boost to jobless benefits in March to deal with a wave of unemployment unseen in decades as states shut down their economies to combat the coronavirus pandemic. The policy expires at the end of July as the U.S. unemployment rate stands above 11%, despite two strong months of job growth.

The Republicans are devious at this.

Pelosi will say: "$400 a month is nothing!"

Tucker will go on TV: "Excuse me miss $500 Ice Cream! For real Americans, living in our real homes, having a real job and not just pandering to the leftist radicals, $400 US Dollars a month is a significant amount of money. In fact in these times of crisis it is the difference between life and death. Food for your children or maybe medicine for your wife. Of course the big fat cats in Washington don't understand that and want you to suffer and starve while they eat $500 ice cream in their lavish mansions. Welcome to Joe Biden's America! The home of the poor and the land of the weak, where no one cares about anything. These people are leftists. No they are worse, they are nihilists, they care about nothing. *runs footage of statues being pulled down*"

Lou as well: "Last time I checked I didn't get $400 from the government, such an extraordinary gift from our President. Yet the Democrats don't seem to like it when our President or rather your President tries to help the American people."

And Hannity: "Of course the left wing mob would deny hard working Americans, $100 a week. Joining me now is Corey Lewandowski, former campaign manager of the Trump 2016 campaign to talk to us all about the White House response to the Chinese Corona Virus and the upcoming Election but first let me ask you Corey. Would you like $100? Certainly Sean, I would certainly like that. See Nancy, everyone in America values $100, why can't you?"

And by the time this is over Pelosi will have to apologize to the poor people.

So...we're finally moving into the full-on fascist mode that everyone was worried about with Trump back in 2016. And OF COURSE it's coming during the middle of a pandemic just months before the election.

Lol, it’s young Hillary erotica.

Quote
“Your outsides are attractive all by themselves. I don’t know if I’m supposed to say this during the women’s movement, but you have great tits. And your little waist, and your nice soft bum, and your delicious honey pot...”

I joined Bill in bed, and when I was lying on my back naked and he was lying on top of me naked, he looked at me and smiled. He said, “Hillary, I really enjoy discussing theology with you. I also enjoy doing lots of other things with you,” and then he plunged inside me.

https://theattic.jezebel.com/rodham-is-pantsuit-nation-erotica-1843465111

Apparently Hillary runs against Bill for president with help from Donald Trump. I take it back, I’m hyped for this shit!

I'd take a West Wing II with another idealized Clinton presidency.

If he wasn't trying he wouldn't be so good at dividing us apart from one another. Wait isn't this what Russia wanted? Money, Power, Greed! All the things you need to exploit and manipulate others. Throw in a huge pile of racism on top of that too and you got yourself a huge fucking problem.

Cop-O Research: Is Kamala Harris Planting Evidence on Her VP Rivals?
Quote
Sen. Kamala Harris (D., Calif.), whose failed presidential campaign flamed out before any primary votes were cast, is a top contender to be Joe Biden's running mate in 2020. Curiously enough, negative stories about Harris's potential rivals for the VP slot have been popping up of late in mainstream media outlets. Imagine that.
Quote
Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms (D.), Rep. Val Demings (D., Fla.), and Rep. Karen Bass (D., Calif.). In recent weeks, all three have had negative stories published about them—almost certainly the result of opposition research fed to reporters by a rival.

Within a span of two days earlier this month, Vox and Politico published similar stories criticizing Demings's record as Orlando police chief. Harris has been criticized in similar fashion for pursuing "tough on crime" policies as California attorney general back when the Democratic Party still believed in crime prevention—although neither story mentions Harris's record.

Around the same time, ABC News published a story highlighting Bottoms's ties to "controversial figure" Kasim Reed, the former Atlanta mayor who left office in disgrace amid a federal corruption investigation that resulted in prison time for a number of his senior staffers. Harris herself is no stranger to controversial figures. Her political career emerged as she was in a relationship with former San Francisco mayor (and Washington Free Beacon Man of the Year) Willie Brown, who was also the subject of a federal corruption investigation—but once again, Harris's similar background went unmentioned.

Following reports that Biden was considering Bass because of her relative lack of interest in using the VP gig as a platform to launch a presidential campaign in 2024, Politico came through with an article about how the congresswoman once described Cuban dictator Fidel Castro as "comandante en jefe" (commander in chief). "Florida Democrats recoil at Karen Bass VP float," the headline read.
Quote
The Atlantic described Harris's "shadow campaign for vice president" as a "very open secret" and noted the efforts of supporters to make the case that Harris is the only woman of color with "the experience to understand the scrutiny and pressure of being part of a national campaign." The New York Times reported that Harris has been "maneuvering privately" to avoid coming across as pathetically desperate.

Harris is reportedly "frustrated with the bureaucracy" in Congress and pines for the executive authority she enjoyed as attorney general of California

I'm late on this but apparently Crowdstrike, the private consultancy and security firm that audited the DNC data breach in 2016 finally came out with a report admitting that they don't have that much evidence of Russia's involvement. This has popped up in some US leftist podcasts I was sampling to get in my rotation, so there's some bias at work, but it would be consistent with the report done in France by intelligence after the email breach at Macron's party, which couldn't really identify a clear culprit.

Former Vice President Joe Biden has opened up a 13-point lead over Donald Trump in the key swing state of Florida, according to a poll out Thursday, yet another warning sign for the president as the state reels from a late-developing surge in coronavirus cases.

The Quinnipiac University poll shows Trump trailing Biden among registered voters in his adopted home state 51 percent to 38 percent.

Trump pulled the GOP out of the Charlottesville convention because he wanted a big crowd and the SC governor couldn't guarantee they'd allow a full capacity event with no social distancing.

So they rescheduled for Jacksonville, but donors didn't want to pay for the new convention after all the money'd been spent on the first site (and DeSantis started actively undermining it over a personal beef with one of the RNC's advisers). Now they're going to do a virtual event.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/safe-third-country-agreement-court-1.5658785

Quote
A Federal Court justice says the Safe Third Country Agreement — Canada's asylum agreement with the United States — infringes upon the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and is giving the federal government six months to respond.

Justice Ann Marie McDonald said the agreement — which stops people from entering either Canada or the U.S. at official Canada-U.S. border crossings and asking for asylum — violates the section of the Charter guaranteeing "the right to life, liberty and security of the person"

The case was brought forward by the Canadian Council for Refugees, Amnesty International, the Canadian Council of Churches and a number of individual litigants who argued that by returning ineligible refugee claimants to the U.S., Canada exposes them to risks — including detention and eventual deportation to countries where they could face harm.

Trump's going to throw out the first pitch for the Yankees, presumably because Fauci got to throw a first pitch and there won't be a crowd there to boo him.

He's going to throw a bad pitch, get clowned, then tweet defensively about it, right? What are the odds of any other result?
