also, people who are nostalgic for car racing games in general, and nascar-themed racing games in particular, smell bad imo
it's the one genre that unambiguously improves over time. those games never had any goals beyond (a) looking as close to real as the technology would allow and (b) playing as well as possible given the heavy restraints of (a). daytona usa was expressly designed for hillbillies, just like every other product related to nascar.

Even if it's a cheap nostalgia grab a new arcade game, let alone a new Daytona, is worth celebrating.

Supposedly Sega got everyone who was still working there and who worked on the original two games on board to do it including the original composer (Who was also the vocalist) so the game itself has a chance of being actually good.

But it's running on a cheap ass Arcade PC these days. Looks like an early 360 game. Compared to The original ran on military grade hardware and most of the cost of the cabinet was for the board itself. Fucking 90's Sega being crazy enough to sign deals with Lockheed Martin for ridiculous shit like making Arcade machines

It's interesting how back in the early 90's, military-grade simulation tech was state of the art (the Lockheed Martin chipsets in the Model 1-3 machines) but when I worked in the field (2004-13, at Lockheed's biggest competitor), stuff did NOT keep up with off-the-shelf products and dated extremely fast.
