Criminy, no way in hell was I expecting Yakuza: Kiwami out here, or Wipeout to ever come back, or two games from Naughty Dog...

This is like, maybe better than E3, cause damn near all this stuff is coming out within the year.

Criminy, no way in hell was I expecting Yakuza: Kiwami out here, or Wipeout to ever come back, or two games from Naughty Dog...

This is like, maybe better than E3, cause damn near all this stuff is coming out within the year.

I love Wipeout and have played pretty much all of them (including the 2 PSP ones and the Vita one), but this doesn't do much for me since it's just the old games looking nicer.  I wish they'd fund a new one even though who knows where all the staff is these days.  An all new Wipeout built for PS4 & Pro at 60fps would look pretty nuts.

Kiwami is cool.  RGG1 never had a Jp audio version, so people can finally play it with that + not horrible loading.  From the half-dozen RGG games I've played at this point, I still think RGG1 had the best plot.

TloU2 is great, but it's years away just like Death Stranding so looking forward to it eventually.  U4 spinoff should be good although sad to hear them clarify from the start it's NO SUPERNATURAL grounded realism.  Was kinda hoping the DLC expansion would have some fun mystical stuff since U4 was lacking in that.

Knack 2...well I liked Knack.  It ran its course by the end of the game, but the concept of old-school 2-3 hits dead + predictable enemy pattern dodging was fun.  I'm pro an expanded sequel, but the trailer didn't do much for me.  Was kind of hoping for a much more fleshed out direction.  We'll see I guess.

Marvel v Capcom Infinite...will wait and see.  Sounds pretty different than MvC with the 2v2 and lack of Fox/X-men characters, cinematic story mode, gems, etc...

Yup, in the Yakuza 0 engine which is a cleaner/smoother modified version of the Yakuza 5 engine.  Don't remember if it's 60fps on PS4 like Yakuza 0.  But yeah, plays like the modern games, so no load times.

Depending on how 6 sells (it may be the death knell for the franchise), I could see them remaking Yakuza 2 next so that all the mainline games are at least PS3 level of visuals or better.

Im not sure what's so funny about what I said. At the end of the day Sony continues to show and present a library of diverse and good games. If somehow The Last of Us isn't your cup of tea there's stuff like Ace Combat, Nier, and the Yakuza games being pushed on the console. If weeb crap isn't your forte there is more quality Uncharted, Horizon, Spider-Man, and so on. Then there's plenty of in between from first and third party.

What is MS giving you? The same tired series swamps of Gears, Halo, and Forza? Halo 5 was such an uninteresting game and Gears 4 a safe attempt at setting you up for 2 more samey Gears games. I guess there's Scalebound coming whenever.

I own an Xbox. Loved stuff like Quantum Break, but have become bored of the usual MS trinity and that seems like all they are able to offer.

If your not convinced after this years confrences that The PS4 will continue to have a good lineup I just don't know what you want out of these consoles.

Crash Trilogy looks good. Are they seriously gonna release all three at once? All Crash games were pretty full of content.

Yakuza 6 and Kiwami is cool, but we might die before they come out so whatevs (also I havent played a Yakuza past the first one, lots of catching up to do)

Ni No Kuni 2 is hype of course

Ys Origin is hype, hope it gets a physical release but

Uncharted: Lesbo Commando Squad is cool, I'm sure there will be a scene where they eat each others hairy iranian pussies out

Last of Us 2 will be out when one of us dies RIP

Knack 2 is a waste of resources

UMVC3 is still the same unbalanced crap, do people even play SF4? Lol

Nobody cares about Parappa, LocoRoco, and especially Patapon. Much more better choices they could have done

Nobody cares about Wipeout Bundle, lazy.

:lol

Shoot shoot shoot shoot drive shoot shoot shoot drive shoot. That's the state of Xbox exclusives since Rare staff were chained to their desks making Kinect games and other 1st party studios got ran into the ground.

They started getting their shit right at the beginning of the 360 years, and then Mattrick and Co. happened.

That said with xbox doing so badly here Im sure Ill be able to grab one for 149 with two games by the time Scorpio comes as its already 199 with one game.

Sunset Overdrive is basically a Dreamcast game, Killer Instinct is a great fighter that plays differently than others while being the first good game in the series, D4 is crazy Sweryness, and Quantum Break is some weird mixture of a Remedy game and a C-grade TV show. But ok, it's just shoot shoot shoot. Oversimplification like that is stupid. It's obvious most Sony games try to be more cinematic with lots of cutscenes but I'm not going to go around and call them shitty movies with average gameplay.

None of those sold well, (well, KI is debate-able. Success but not a super success last I checked). Which is the problem. MS throws a bunch of new IP's out, they die on the vine in terms of consumer response and they never make a sequel so the "Gears, Forza, Halo" trinity continues unabated.

I'm really surprised how competent Let it Die is.  Like really, really considering it's Grasshopper who can't make a game for shit outside style (and sometimes I love them for it).  It's very rpg-ish Souls.  The core combat is whatever but it gets away with it because it's loot & stat focused.

And hey it's got better platforming than Dark Souls!

So far I only liked two PS4 exclusives: Until Dawn and Uncharted. Bloodborne was alright I guess but at that point I found myself getting tired of the Souls formula. Out of what you mentioned Neir, Yakuza, and Spiderman is all I'm really interested in.
I mean honestly I don't like most Sony exclusives. Infamous, The Order, Until Dawn, and Killzone were all pretty meh. But my point is at least there has been and will continue to be more games of different genres that Sony pushes out. If we count the Japanese support, then yes you're talking about niche stuff that won't appeal to everyone. But again thats the point. It's there and being highlighted as an aspect of the Platform. No doubt Sony is helping out some way with the Yakuza games. They wont do much and are only for a small audience, but that means that audience is being feed something. Is MS feeding that audience? Maybe one title every few years that it bums out and then does nothing with. And it's not like Sony doesn't have stuff that appeals to people the same way Halo and Gears do.

Quote
I actually do like more of the exclusives on the Xbox One than I do on PS4. Like Halo 5, Quantum Break, D4, Sunset Overdrive, Titanfall and Killer Instinct. The latter three I still go back to from time to time while I never go back to the PS4 games. If anything, the Xbox exclusives are more varied gameplay wise. That said the PS4 does have better looking upcoming exclusives, but as always it's mostly the third party games.
I mean I guess, obviously it's an opinion. Yes I think Quantum Break was very good, but pretty much all those others(except Killer Instinct for most) felt like duds. And in the end I don't see how they are all more varied then the Playstation lineup.
Quote
I'm not one for console wars but it sounds like the PS4 just targets your niches more than it being better than the Xbox.
Yes it does, while also targeting my more mainstream tastes as well. The Xbox only does one and it's growing increasingly safe and bland at it.
Quote
This gen, more so than the last, makes it hard to try and differentiate too much between them as the majority of great games are multiplatform and everything comes down to very specific preferences. If you don't notice that your post is fanboyism then I don't know what to tell you.
Eh I don't agree at all. Yes it comes down to preference, but it's become increasingly more obvious which one has a wider range of games.

And I never said it wasn't fanboyism. I vastly prefer Playstation. I still own an Xbox and if it was like it was on the early days of the 360 I would think that MS was killing it. And how could I not be a fan of the PS4. It has and continues to offer me all kinds of games of every taste. While MS has basically shat out a few things and then riled on things that I think are way past their prime and really shows no signs of changing. Looking forward to 2017 I can't think of an Xbox One only title to really be excited for. Scalebound I guess? Meanwhile I can think of Persona 5, Ace Combat 7, Ni Oh, Horizon, Gravity Rush 2, Ni No Kuni 2, Nier, FFXII, Days Gone, Spider-Man, God of War, Yakuza 0/K, Tales of Beseria, Uncharted Chloe, and so on. They may not be all good, but they are promising titles and mostly all different.

I wasn't talking about sales, dude. All I'm saying is that so far I enjoyed their first party offerings this gen more than Sony's.

That's a boy? :lol

Welcome to the world of JRPG protagonists.

And Rahx, I honestly am not shitting on you. Just saying that I don't agree with your post, and so far I liked what MS has been doing more than Sony but I conceded that Sony has a more promising future as far as we know. I don't agree with it just being Halo, Gears and Fable(I'd love a Fable more like the second game, though) there's been a lot of variety for me when it comes to their output that sadly didn't sell well as thisismyusername pointed out.

We don't know much about what MS has to offer aside from Scalebound and Crackdown. The former hasn't looked good in video previews as much of a Kamiya stan I am and the latter I honestly am not sure what is even going on with it. Then again Sony just had some big showing yesterday while I'm not sure when MS will be ready to reveal stuff, but if MS keeps funding games like they have lately I'm down for whatever they are.

Microsoft's just been super quiet lately and Sony has been rolling them in mindshare. Crackdown 3 got quietly confirmed as "Holiday 2017" during a stream over the weekend (CD 3 and Forza 7 will probably be the main showcase titles for Scorpio) while State Of Decay 2, Cuphead, Scalebound and Sea Of Thieves don't have firm dates yet (I'd bank on Scalebound being pushed closer to Scorpio). I admire they are willing to try push Crackdown as a main franchise for them (Finally) but the extended periods of quiet are really silly.

Granted, their security on leaks has been far tighter than the leaking ship it was a few years back and the only thing Spencer has said is they are investing in Japanese developers again and to expect some exclusives from that region and that they don't want to announce titles too far away from their actual release (They got burned by Crackdown and Phantom Dust announcing too early). I can imagine they might do a blowout once Scorpio is officially announced of what they have signed, but they just incredibly quiet. It's easy for Sony to keep winning when the competition is saying nothing but you have to wonder if announcing titles like Hollywood comic book movies years off (TLOU2 and Death Stranding are 2019 titles at least). Maybe it will pick up again when Nintendo announces switch titles so there will be a bit more pressure to assure people that games are coming. But at the very least they could at least hint whats coming in 2018 (Other than Halo 6, natch)

Yeah, people are describing it as a halfway between Dark Souls & Dead Rising which I think is accurate.  Game is more weapon/equipment based than character based and there's just tons and tons of weapons/armor to pick up everywhere and their durability lasts for like 3 combos at the start which gives it a DR feel.  But then weapons/armor start lasting longer and you start being able to reinforce/repair them and build your own.  Also when you die you start back at level 1 but you can get your previous character back by either getting back to it and fighting it & beating it, or by paying $5,000 in coins which isn't that much for the in-game currency and doesn't need F2P.  But even if you're at level 1, if you've got  good equipment you've stored, you're almost as powerful already.  It's all about getting weapons/armor, blueprints, building and upgrading loot.  Also as you use a weapon your character levels in the weapon proficiency which I think carries over between characters.

There's a few janky systems that people are figuring out how to deal with.  When you die your ghost becomes an enemy in other people's game.  The problem is when people's high level character dies in like the first couple of floors, now there's an enemy that's lvl.25 when everyone else is lvl.2.  So people are figuring out strategies for it.

So people are figuring out strategies for it.

sounds fun, hope its not full price and I might try it

if you can keep some things in between dying that would be goodas a pure pure roguelike would tire me within hours

I assume its out in Japan already?

It's out in English, bruh.  Came out Saturday.  The game is also free to play...I.E. no price, so go download it now.  :)
