Black Mirror, what the fuck
« on: December 20, 2016, 04:16:02 AM »
Just started watching, and I'm left disgusted by the first episode (the one with the pig).

I hope the rest of the episodes are fucked up too, this is great.
Didn't realize it was an older TV show, hadn't heard of it until recently.

The second episdoe wasn't as exciting, should I keep watching? I'll have to try episode 3 today.

Going to be rough when the most fucked up episode of the new season is Charlie Brooker's 2016wipe later this year

Originally when I watched I was mad as fuck too, like I want more but i've since just started treating each ep as a movie, it helps lessen the wound

Because Brooker was writing a lot of the early ones himself which takes time. As he has his fingers in a lot of pies creative wise. Also UK shows don't have the budget of US ones to be able to do ridiculous amounts of episodes, so they can get to syndication more quickly.

If you want more Black Mirror style show watch 'Dead Set' sort of the precursor to Black Mirror. And it was also written by Charlie Brooker

Dead Set was on iTunes for purchase, and then I waffled over buying it too long and it was removed.  :'(

What would you recommend then? I think Black Mirror is the only anthology series I found interesting, but it's easier to follow with my schedule/concentration, so I like the "system" of one story per episode.

Watch the original Twilight Zone series. It's classic, if you haven't. There's a wealth of episodes.

Yeah, there's not a lot like it at the moment hence why it's so welcomed.
The Outer Limits had a new series in the 1990's (post X-Files craze) but the production value is nothing like Black Mirror and slighty below average even for the time. The Twilight Zone hasn't been bested really.

I feel the outer limits is also there, albeit 1050% more cheese and formula.

Yeah, Outer Limits /never/ hit that sweet spot for me. Night Gallery is in there as well, scarier than insightful, and not hitting the highs that Twilight Zone did.
