Heh, I made a similar thread on Tranceaddict about an hour ago. I think my favorite this year has to go to Icarus - Hiding. Heard Jody Wisternoff drop it at an Anjunadeep record label showcase in Manhattan a few weeks ago and instantly fell in love with the melody and vox. It's pretty standard melodic house as befitting of the label (a personal favorite of mine).

The "found somebody better than you" lyric also resonates a lot since this year I got out of a toxic relationship with a girl of 3 years over the summer, and recently met someone new that seems very promising. Of course, a lot of my favorite songs have a 'story' behind them, usually involving my life situation and/or what I was doing when I heard it for the first time.

Great movies are still 2-3 hours long. You can get through 30 "classic" songs in the time to watch one classic film. Don't get me started on books.

The point is it's a dumb reason to not also try and get into something. I don't let the hundreds of great PS1/PS2/PS3 games I've missed (since I have a PS3) get in the way of me enjoying the medium.

I have slowed my buying down due to time restraints but that's separate.

These resonate the same theme for me, but approached from wildly different directions. One is maximal and digitally processed to the extreme, while the latter is a traditional hymn performed by a folk singer. Don't know why these both have stuck with me this entire year (love streams was released in April or so, and I've been going through current 93's catalog since February), but they have. Which is strange cuz I'm not in a dour place in my life, quite the opposite. Maybe I just need the counterbalance.

I've never given a shit about much country music but my eyes got opened this year, and this song smashed it, so good. That said, I don't think I'm going to seek out much Reba unless someone says there's something specific I should hear, but goddamn this is good.
