Yup, ANOTHER 8-bit updated game.  Looks a lot better than DD4.

Looks like it's Steam-only (PC/Mac/Linux).  Arc System Works' name is listed, but this is actually being made by Canadian-developer Conatus.

Confusing as hell since there's a PS4 RCR game, River City Ransom Melee, also coming out soon, which is a completely different game.

River City: Tokyo Underground, it was actually developed by Million Co. and published by Natsume. Underground is a Kickstarted game being made by a Canadian team, with Arc System Works just acting as a licensor [they bought out the IP from Million sometime last year].

This came out yesterday.

On my first time playing, I went into the high school, beat up a bunch of dudes on various floors, then fought a boss on the roof and the game locked up and crashed back to the desktop. 

It's also kind of...boring?  The game play feels mindless even for a beat-em-up.  Hope it gets better.

I saw this early and was really confused.

 Turns out I was thinking of Retro City Rampage 

I made the same connection.

However, I am up for Kunio-Kun action, though I'm more likely to just MAME up an old copy of Renegade.
