GF has a C-Max Energi thingy, it's all right as a plug-in hybrid. I'm not sure whether to recommend a pure EV at this point since the batteries are in the midst of major capacity jumps to get to the hallowed 200-300 mile range (320-480km).

But at the very least check the charging station situation where you live and go for something with nice gadgets and shit so you'd be okay with keeping the car for a few years. I'm sure a pure EV will depreciate a lot quicker than a plug-in hybrid tho.

Yeah Renault just increased their battery so the Zoe has a 400km range (300km realistic)

I might go EV when my lease is up but it depends on my financial situation and prices and such. For now I'm happy with my 50+ mpg.

i have a chevy volt and it's nice to drive around. super quick acceleration and a pretty comfortable and quiet ride. there's only a few charging stations in town but since i pretty much only use it to commute, it doesn't matter. it also has a gas backup so if i run out of charge i've got ~300 mi of gas to get me around.

Since you live in a population dense area it's probably not a big deal but just make sure there are enough charging stations in your area to make it worth it.

In the US, a lot of deals are being made to install charging terminals so in 3-5 years they should be widely available but for right now, there are some stretches where they are few and far between.
