Tabletop Simulator (mod heaven)

Could have stuck this in the random gaming thread but fuck it.

I got this game about a year ago on sale. Always liked the idea of it but never got around to booting it up until the last few weeks.

It's awesome. I love it. Been having a blast. Most of the good (i.e illegal) board game mods are available for it in the workshop. When they get taken down somebody tends to reupload them again. And once you download it once you have it permanently anyway unless the hosted images get taken down.

I always wanted to get into board games, but I never had a crew around me willing to do it so this scratches that itch and I've found some guys to play with on a weekly basis. I'm learning so many new boardgames and seeing what I like without having to drop hundreds of dollars. The controls are a bit wonky and take a little getting use to but still very worthwhile imo. I know most of you are probably already familiar with it but I just wanted to relate how its been such a revelation for me recently.

Yeah, it seems really neat.  If I ever get back into board games I'd be all about this.

It's good. But you really need a group to play it with. Most of the workshop mod games have no players. :lol :'(

I find that if you are friendly with people in the global chat you can get people to play pretty much anything.

Me and a few friends with me laughing like a hyena through most of a game of Secret Hitler.

Wow! How much work does it take to adapt stuff to this framework?

Not very much. It requires some 3D modeling, but the actual "game" elements are all manually done by you with an awkward interface "in-game"/simulator.
