I was better off before discovering internet forums

I've been posting on internet forums since 2000. :goty

Look at this figgurt thinking that's old.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
1995-ish or so, probably earlier. Forgetting the year. I've spent 20 years or so of my life posting on internet forums. :goty :fbm

This whole place is just a nostalgia trip of old buds, I probably shouldn't even be here. Feels like I'm invading a private space.

Naw, every place needs new blood. You're it now. Shit, I was the new blood here at one time. People come and go, that's the hard part to swallow.

Should this place raise its profile by leaving trails of breadcrumbs at GAF or is it better to stay secret?

If you don't give a shit about your GAF account, sure.

I'd say no regardless, though, as who wants your average GAFFER shitposting all over the place.

When I was a 15 year old (pretending to be a 21 year old) dude I cybered a lot with a 30 year old woman on AOL who in retrospect was probably a 50 year old guy.

Hey it's me, your cyberpartner.

Consider the talent that came through our forum, and where they are now. Willco is an editor of a website, Cheebs is married to a woman, Shake is editing videos for a Chinese rapper, and TheBlackStallion is a porn star.

There's more than that: Bebpo has a real job, Andrex has made multiple movies, we managed get Atra out from FemAtra phase and walk him through his first awkward sexual encounter, and Vestal has left Earth to rejoin the Moon People that sent him to save us.

GAF originally, looked it up after posters were talking about "that other board". So maybe 8 or 9 years ago?  Been lurking for a long time on and off but was too chickenshit to sign up for an account. Came for the GAF meta commentary, stayed for the community.

I find it hilarious "thebore" is still censored on GAF.  :lol

i was shitposting AND moderating a video game related forum at least as far back as 98 :smug

Same here.  I've been shitposting since I was 12 back in 1998 and was a moderator when I was 14.  I quit being a moderator because I no longer cared about the e-cred.  It's why I laugh at how :stahp the GAF moderators act about their unpaid entirely voluntary "job" as a moderator.

I'm pretty sure that Jim dude gave the forum to Evilore, it was getting too expensive/complicated/big to run. Lore ran into all sorts of problems that nearly killed the forum, i remember when they ended up hosted by IGN for a while, who was like OMG WE WILL NEVER ABANDON GAF and then after a while, super shitty popups started and it was a wild time and one day they moved to their own server.

i started posting on GAF in 2000 or so, during the dreamcast heydays. I started posting on message boards in 1993 or 1994, on local bbs systems, this shit was like crack to me, I would get into huge arguments with people.

I think willco msged me on irc/#ga or maybe on the forums, or was it demi?  ??? I remember when we would all hang out on irc and play uno on the 360, and I would chat with demi and cloudwalking on msn from times to times. Demi was cool, cloudwalking was very refreshing.

This was before  she met Jarosh online. I remember trying to taunt demi to go meet her, I think they eventually met but stayed friends. I think. Didn't Willco try to get into show business?

This feels like a lifetime ago. You guys all changed nicknames and I don't know who is who.

I'm just not very active anymore on forums, life gets in the way, but I can be found on irc, at the same place. I miss the old forum culture and the knowledgeable people that used to post. The bore got me thru some rough times in my life.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Now that GAF is dying the Cruncheons is no more, it's time to follow another gaming podcast into the ether

I don't even remember when I got here, but I was surprised by the amount of ex users and all ran by Demi.

Joe Molotov becoming a mod (who had a great point and click thread in the other forum) sealed the deal that this was a good place.

Squiddy got ran out (and made EvilDemi which didn't go anywhere).

Eggman posted for a short-while, I pestered him for dick. He posted said dick (which I didn't get to see) and fucked off because demi or whoever (rightly so) banned him.

I guess I'm a little LTTP here, but here's how I got on the bore

I used to lurk the old version of the site Evilbore for years. Not sure how I found it originally, but it amused me, and some of the posters were funny shits. Although it seems a lot of the people from Evilbore have left over the years. Kept lurking when it became the Bore and I think I lurked Bore for two or three years before I registered for an account, especially when they I saw they had a thread dedicated to GAF bitching. Started posting when I got my perma.  :larry

Esch told me about this place around the time gaf-hop was going to shit (2015), but this place moved to0 slow to stick around.

Then I caught wind of gaf's implosion and knew this was to place to return to for the deets. Probably will frequent less but this was always the better user culture compared to gaf.

Mandark and I will probably not agree on much else ever, but his support for free speech is self-evident and commendable.

I haven't had an alt on GAF for years.  5 years actually.

I mean if you look at my posting here. I don't actually post in the GAF thread much. It's mostly in the video game section and regrettably shitting up the relationship thread. I actually made the transition to the bore as my only forum years ago. It was rocky, but now that we have these infusion of posters I kind of hope they don't all stay(I would'nt mind the game section being more active) because I like that this is'nt neogaf.

I would still visit Neogaf to read some news threads and opinion threads, but I mostly found it it annoying to read and would'nt go past the first page.
