In a roundabout way, it was NeoGAF.

They banned me. Or rather, I went out in a blaze of glory after a million too many political posts and threads on the gaming side. Finally, after the 2016 presidential election, one of the provocateurs over there posted a thread blaming Trump for some new egregious problem in the gaming industry - and that was it.

I knew full well I was committing account suicide, and it felt liberating.

Months later, I wanted to revisit that thread and see what more reaction (other than the initial pile-on and banning) my posts had generated. The Google search led me to The Bore - someone here had quoted me and linked to the post and I had a good laugh.

I signed up a few weeks after that. And I believe this is my first post here.

I found the bore either googling references I read lurking gaf before my account got approved (which took over two years) and or when NBA gaf got locked and I tried to figure out what happened.

Sidenote, but I'm a little surprised that as few people on gaf knew lore's history. By the time my gaf account got approved, I had almost forgot I registered, and in the interim I found this place, slaent etc just looking up references to shit i didn't get that was posted on gaf. I ended up here and after I could finally post there I had seen the screencaps and stories from years passed referenced here, and I kinda assumed others would have done the same

I think one of Wrath's particularly blatant alts was banned or something early in 2011, then a few months passed and someone on GAF mentioned Evilbore so I checked it out and saw my lover Wrath had moved here. Joined up and was immediately paranoid about what this place had shittalked against me while I was on GAF. Was also constantly on the defensive as a Nintendrone but Segata, Wrath, Esch and dcharlie made it worth it to stick around, and I'm glad I did. 👍🏻

Actually I still posted on GAF until I think June 2014 or something. Came back for the Toonami live watch thread a bit ago when the block started airing the Yorknew City arc of Hunter x Hunter. Not really going to cry over GAF despite joining 10 and a half years ago (Jesus Christ) and having never eaten a permaban in all that time (unlike most of the losers here. )

it's really the only GAF moderation thing i actually can get made to bitch about seriously, my permaban as i said at the time i saw coming and i just really only hate-bitch about it like this because it was like the third straight time i had been banned for "trolling" according to the message when i was being completely serious and in this case was actually asking for more/better information and had repeatedly taken back and apologized for an earlier flippant remark i had made (which was like hours before i was banned and buried 20 pages earlier so probably couldn't have been why, edit: unless a bunch of people PMed it I suppose) and the idea that my whole persona on two separate forums was an elaborate troll game kinda rubbed the wrong way but I guess is a perfect illustration of where GAF's mentality was at the time/was headed

as i mentioned in my old post i had registered here before and got sweeped out along with bots by accident which demi personally apologized for, and the NBA-GAF nonsense helped me re-register with a place that was always better for me
