Yes.

It's essentially a show that pokes fun at the "uber powerful anime protagonist" trope.

ah man, I miss Satoshi Kon.

Here's something to think about: At the same age that Satoshi Kon died at, 46, Hayao Miyazaki had just released Castle in the Sky, only his third movie. He's released 8 movies since then.

Why'd you have to cash out so soon, man. :tocry

I've literally never watched an anime aside from the Pokemon show when I was a kid. Maybe I'll have to check a few animes out once I run out of stuff to binge on netflix. Is it worth the psychological damage?

Ranma ˝ is a bunch of fun, has most of the good tropes, few of the bad tropes, and is legitimately funny.

Is it? I thought it was minna for everyone but mina-san for everyone if you use -san. :doge
The case for the kanji, 皆さん is phonetically handled as mi-na-as-n. I've seen minna-san as well, which can be shown as みんなさん, and I assume is an affectation or for emphasis.

When I was a freshman in college, I met someone who had the whole series on VHS, we used to watch them all the time, it was one of the first anime series I really got into. Love that theme song!

Same here, only I was that guy who had all the tapes on VHS.  Ranma is what fucked me up for life really got me into manga and anime.  The comics had been coming out in English for a year or so before I started reading them in 1992.  I couldn't get enough and went absolutely batshit insane when Viz announced the first VHS releases- they oddly released the first episodes of the TV series from the late 80s and then the first OVAs from the 90s very close to each other.  Huge difference in animation quality and style, plus the OVA had characters in it that wouldn't be seen in the English-translated manga for years:lol

Ranma was kind of a big deal for a little bit there- the comics got pretty popular and then the TV series and the second game for the SNES came out around the same time.

Never did finish reading the series and really need to.  I kept buying the English releases as they came out and stopped when I went to live in Japan in 2005.  It's kind of crazy to think that they still weren't done releasing it 15 years after they started, but that's how damn slow Viz releases were (still are?).

A group of fans had even gotten together and released all the untranslated chapters in English in the early 2000s online.  :lol :dizzy

:expert

Although as the years have gone by, I find more of a fondness for Urusei Yatsura.  Would also like to read all of that one day.  Viz stopped releasing them in English in the early 2000s since it wasn't as popular as Ranma was.  :-\

She was once quoted as saying that the stuff she does is for each new generation of readers.  I get what she means- I loved Urusei Yatsura, Maison Ikkoku, Ranma, and One-Pound Gospel, but didn't get into Inu-Yasha as much and Rin-Ne is just kind of there.

I wish she'd release more comedy-focused stuff again.

I missed out on those days, but I do remember when anime DVDs were 3-4 episodes for $30. Then they started doing the series collections for about $80 and it blew my mind.

Now, I'm paying $60 a year for all the anime I can stand to watch. :lol

Japanese purchasers are still paying for two-episode DVDs… and they're dropping about 50 bucks for it. I'm also seeing on Amazon.co.jp that full seasons are going for over 200 bucks. Yeah! Island economies are awesome!  :'(

Wow, prices have gone down.  I remember when those two-ep DVDs were 70-80 bucks and box sets were like 500 fucking dollars.

As a new item of “Life-size Buttocks Mouse Pad” series, Angela Balzac from “Expelled from Paradise” is back in CG illustration style.
This series focuses on recreating life-size buttocks of 2D characters in the form of a mouse pad. We currently have pre-orders open for Angela!

Being a life-size item, the buttocks alone are about 1400g heavy! Definitely not the weight of your usual mouse pad. The silicone batting is made of “shiricone” (in Japanese “shiri” means “buttocks”), a material manufactured by “M.J.Original”, and the surface is covered with “2WAY Tricot”, a soft & smooth kind of fabric commonly used for hugging pillow covers. Angela is beautifully printed onto it and you can enjoy her from an exquisite angle.

Today, we have gotten a product sample at our hands. We will report you the actual feel of the item with newly taken pictures.
