What's worse in nerd word over usage: Lore or Canon?
« on: May 06, 2017, 12:10:09 PM »
I like world building in my nerd shit and tend to enjoy it. But lately lore's been thrown around so much that I find myself annoyed at the mere mention of the word, much like how canon became the battle cry of every nerdlinger manchild for years, it just sounds cringe inducing whenever i hear it brought up.

So is "no respect for canon" still all time WOAT? Or is "LORE!" worse now?

Canon. It's not holy scripture.
Lore sounds exotic.

Canon easily. Lore to me is still for high special fellow flavor text. Canon is shit to be taken seriouslytherefore it shouldn't be.

also if you're the type of person who cries about dark souls lore and spoilers for dark souls you're a waste of life.

I voted lore, because I like to say stupid shit like "Vincent d'onofrio's Thor in Adventures in Babysitting is considered canon."

I always thought Star Trek's opposition or #duality of "Data" with "Lore" was pretty clever. I guess the ironic point here is that "lore" in the gaming sense a la wikia fansites is all about it being treated as just more data(-base culture).

The post-credit scene confirms that Stan Lee has actually been a "Watcher" throughout his entire slate of MCU cameos. Even before Guardians of the Galaxy, some speculated that Stan Lee is actually playing Uatu, a member of the Watchers who was assigned to look after Earth. Kevin Feige also recently confirmed that Stan Lee is a Watcher, but did not actually name him as Uatu in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Lore's cool.

Canon is fun for all the times it's misspelled as cannon.

I liked Data as a character, but Lore felt so cheesy, every single time.
