I was legit shook on seeing that.

No lie, I'd have paid $20 for it on PC even though it's going to be (ugh) UWP. But for free? Hell yeah, I'll suffer to MS store for the sake of getting a sequel.

Looks like I'll actually get to try it this time. I never heard of it till that E3 sequel reveal where people got really hyped(and boo thisismyusername wouldn't shut up about it) and had a casual curiosity about it since.

Note: There's going to be a "starter pack" for the multiplayer, I suggest downloading that and still going through the story (which starts off slow but gets interesting and has one of the "good" story endings IMO for that generation), it'll unlock later skills and credits you'll need to get the later skills. Plus it's basically an "overlong" tutorial for the first-half showing the school of skills and all that.

You can still unlock everything normally, and the MP shop now always acts as if you've finished the campaign, so there's a chance for any skill to be available (including ultra-rares) every time you visit the MP shop.

Also, you can now skip campaign missions after 3 retry attempts, and we still give you all the skill / credit rewards.

And you can still trade skills and credits online.

So yeah, you shouldn't struggle with the campaign (but it really isn't that hard) and I still suggest it because it's a cool story and the tutorials help you learn as you progress.

I was only ever going to play the campaign, so no worries.

  You better be playing that X-box Live multiplayer (on PC for free, hopefully) dude. That's where the game really starts to shine once you are finished with the single-player.

Booted my old X-box up and got the Arsenals transcribed off them. Now I just need to put them into PhantomDusted's arsenal creator and put them into the modern version for real.

Not owning an OG xbox, that's where I was. It was the 2nd-run platform of its generation, despite having easier hardware to develop for, and a sizable user-base.

And don't get me started on how badly it faceplanted in Japan.

Yeah, that was a joke I cracked when the 360 went on sale – the USA was out of them, but the Japanese shelves were not moving any units at all. Some forumdude wrote, "JAPAN, SEND US YOUR 360s!" and I wrote back, "NO, WE'RE USING THEM AS HEATERS."
