Me, too. I just saw a tweet of a big-ass "THANK YOU" over a picture of a field of veterans' memorial graves. My first thought was, "Wait, who's reading this? Do dead soldiers tweet now?"
My father served, it cost him a great deal in the long run. I have friends who still serve, and they have complex feelings about how they deserve to be treated which seem opaque to anyone who hasn't actually served (like me).
