I'm watching more and more movies these days, so I decided to make a thread where I review the films I watch.

This past week I've viewed Apocalypse Now and The Life Aquatic.

Apocalypse Now was a pretty powerful flick, although, I do feel it has some problems. As a fan of the Godfather movies, I had really high hopes for this movie, but it still ended up being somewhat disappointing, probably because I had different expectations than what I got. Still, it was a great movie, chock full of memorable scenes and quotes. It felt like it was too full of itself at times, but I didn't really mind that at all. My biggest complaint with the movie is perhaps the characters. Godfather movies impressed me because of the way characters were portrayed, and I felt excitement as they acted on the screen. On Apocalypse Now, I really didn't feel a thing for any character in the story, including the main character. Chef is probably my favorite character in the flick but that's not exactly saying much. I plan on re-watching it this weekend, and then analyzing it. The cinematography and direction really made this movie. The absurdity of the story was just the icing on the cake. You either surf or fight.

I really enjoyed Apocalypse Now, but I probably should reserve judgment until I fully understand the story. As of now, I'd give it a 4/5.

I really didn't feel a thing even though they tried to make it emotional. I was all,"Huh." Even though, characters really weren't that memorable, the main character, Steve, was extremely well played and I loved him to death. The over the top action suited the movie well I think. There's something riveting about watching a man kill Filipino's in a speedo.

I'd give Life Aquatic a 3/5. The movie was just crazy, adventurous fun and I'd like to watch it again.

Seriously, I just don't like Wes Anderson films AT ALL. They're basically all the same: "let's put a stationary camera on someone, play quirky music, and have them act like a mentally handicapped person for five minutes."

I've never been blown away by what I've seen in Apocalypse Now. Even some of the more iconic scenes - like the Valkyre scene - leave me underwhelmed. That being said I haven't seen the entire movie, and what I saw was edited
