The NES Classic had some sort of emulation feature for seizure prevention. Need to hack it open and disable that feature on this one to see if thats the case.

i didn't know where to start either, so I beat the first level of Starfox to unlock 2. after that I moved in to super Metroid. I've played the shit out of most of these but it's years. gonna rip through a few classics before moving on to "new" stuff.

Also there was conflicting info a couple months ago, but I did a quick spot check and YUP! The US SNES Classic has superior concave X and Y buttons just like the originals. 😍

True. I will give SMB3 props for what it accomplished on NES hardware. That the two are even comparable at all is amazing, and makes SMW stand out as clearly a launch game even more.
