Tekken top 8 was really goddamn good this year. Taisei came out of nowhere with that stylish Steve, there was some unique character choices with Eddy/Chloe/Eliza, and we got another one of a kind matchup with JDCR/Saint. Those dudes play each other all the time but you'll never see a more interesting Tekken match than when they play. The mindgames were unreal! AND THEN GEESE WAS REVEALED WHAT
Marvel was honestly a bit of a blowup. Lots of one sided matchups and it honestly felt like a down year skill-wise, but then again nothing can compare to 2014 top 8. Paradigm's matches were impressive and it was excellent to see Chris G get BTFO by a Southwest player. I even liked the MVCI exhibition after. Gamora sword skills look sick as hell. All in all a good send off to the game.
BB finals was when I was grilling up some food so didn't get to see much of that. The new BB tag game seems neat though, being able to potentially make a zoning hell team of Elizabeth/Rachel sounds fantastic.
Smash was solid. Some fun matchups in the mix and a nice variety of characters. Plus Zero didn't win and BAYO DID YOOOOOOOO!
Didn't watch SFV but the fans of it that did said it was amazing. I just can't be bothered with that game anymore but I'm glad people liked it.
All in all a good year. I'm sad I missed it in person but just thinking about the potential for next year has me already wanting to book tickets to Vegas. Tekken, DBZ, MVCI, Smash4, BB Cross, SFV, Injustice 2, and maybe one more game (ARMS or Splatoon?) sounds like a great potential lineup.
