I don't get why the doctor can't be a woman. The doctor takes many forms. Sometimes old, sometimes young. Why can't he be a she too? I'm not advocating that it be done out of some fake egalitarian thing for social justice but I'm not understanding why the doctor, given the characters development, wouldn't mind being a woman as well.

I’m all for a lady Doctor. I guess what bums me out is that she’s visibly less idiosyncratic physically than the last few Doctors, who all have kinda unique faces. I hope the outfit she has on in the reveal vid isn’t her actual costume (I’m almost sure it isn’t).

The Dr Who fanbase is pretty weird already, but by judging on my facebook feed, a lot of the negative comments are coming from actual women  :lol but then again they are the kind of fans that drops thousands to travel the world to take $150 pictures with David Tennant.

Story-wise it makes sense for Doctor Who to be a woman this time. He saw how the Master became the Missy and how she changed for the better. He hasn't been happy with who he is so he might be looking for a similar change. Also he seems to learn and take queues from his companions and his most recent companion was a lesbian. So it kind of makes more sense for him to be a woman this time instead of a man.

Truth. The Moffat years have been a huge disappointment. His first season is mostly great, but that's it. When he was picked, all indications were good since he had written by far the best episodes of the RTD years, but he just ended up being a near complete flop.
