GAF sucks for locking my topic, but here: Tell me why FF: Tactics rocks

I bought it simply because I thought I'd never get a chance to buy it ever again, and I have heard good rumblings from some people about it.  I'm sort of new to the whole strategy game genre, the only games I've ever beaten were Advance Wars DS and Fire Emblem on the GBA.  So tell me, what's so good about Tactics?

+ deep -- loads of stats to tweak and classes to futz with.
+ great graphics (for the era) and effects
+ great soundtrack

- shitty translation
- horrible interface
- some incredibly inane "puzzle" fights that are difficult to pass if you don't know the trick
- Orlandu

The game is fun, but it's too easy. Drinky's just a cigarillo.

I've beat the game twice, homo, and even did Wiegraf/Velius withOUT Auto-Potion.

Tactics Ogre: LUCT spanks it for both challenge and depth -- I beat the 100-level Undead Palace twice in that game, my only Red Scarlet-esque gaming achievement.

Okay what the FUCK.  This game hates me.  I haven't even gotten into the main game yet.  When the historian asks me my name, the "choose a name" option comes up with Ramza selected, and it won't let me change the name, AND it won't let me continue.  But my controller works, cause I went through the tutorial pushing the circle button, the start button, etc.  Why the fuck does this game hate me, do I have to return it?

Thats true. I though you meant the character is a negative in general. Orlandu is awesome but he does cheapen the challenge factor of the game with his awesome "HOLY SWORD!" attack (I believe its called, haven't played the game in years). Oh and his OH SO WONDERFULL sword (/me hugs the Excalibur)

and ***** (Secret Character) is fucking useless in this game. His attacks take too long (even with "his" sword) and yet I still use him for some reason

I just leveled him to max level, gave him teleport and the two sword ability and turned him into a monk.

500+ dmg in 2 hits ftw.

This game is extremely addictive, plus ninjas are <3.

Downside:  HORRIBLE ENDING. 

Verdict: play and level up until you are bored of the game.  Do not finish it.

I remember through one of my playthrough, just powerleveling at the point where your first able to travel around the world map yourself. I would do the cross formation and have one Monk (for his Chakra ability) and 4 other players with classes that have "Powerup" (I think its called, its a Squire ability. Its the ability I would use to gain easy EXP). I would then powerlevel so much that I was pretty much lv99 right at the beginning of the game. It was great going through the game with uber characters decimateing everthing that came in front of me.
