I don't disagree, but we don't have any truly successful socialist societies. Is that by design, the users or information?
The problem is that socialism is fundamentally incompatible with normal human behaviour. The only way to make it work would be to genetically engineer a new human compatible with socialism, kill all incompatible humans, and then implement it. And then kill yourself, obviously, since you're incompatible as well.
Human nature is a meme idea. Humans existed for the vast majority of their history in egalitarian roles because they had to. In other words the material conditions determine how people will act.
Obviously under capitalism, people will act in ways that force them to be at each other's throats.
Oh there's lots of reasons. Partially sabotage by the West, partially the other socialist states being built on the design of the USSR, and command economies being too overwhelming for humans to properly plan. But failure in the past is not s sufficient reason to stop - if it was we should have ditched the idea of democracy a long time ago.
Learn from the past, be critical and self critical, and move forward.
Perhaps, but then could we not apply the same lessons to capitalism too?
sure, and that leads to social democracy. but social democracy only addresses the structural flaws in capitalism with bandaid solutions - itndoesnt get to the root of the problem, which is why it can be rolled back or even perverted into roght populism/fascism like we are seeing across Europe now
The problem with capitalism is inherent in its structure
