Hey, I will say Halo Reach was the first time Halo's aesthetics and art direction didn't look like some sci-fi tv reject. The first time it actually looked cool.

The overly spikey and not exactly utility style really took off in 4 and 5. Reach still had some sense.

I hated BF3 for so long because people stopped playing the infinitely superior BF:BC2 when it came out.
Gotta disagree with you there friend.

The shooting is pretty imvproved in BF3, though BC2 is obviously where BF shooting got good.

And while it took until the DLC for the maps to get good, when they did there were far superior. I've never liked the maps in BC2. Few control points(mostly always three), that were always close together and basically in a straight line. Always funneling the players and never having the game spread out. While Battlefields since then have obviously tried to funnel players into the action and taken influence from Rush mode, it was extra worse in BC2. BF3's DLC had larger maps with spread out control points.

BC2 didn't need a lot of control points, since the environments were fully destructible. I agree with anyone who thinks BF:BC2 was the best shooter in the past decade. No contest.

Mods would have access to individual users, not a total database export I think. Giving access to anyone outside of the super administrator account would be a big security flaw.

Not that anyone's looking for confirmation from me on this, but this is right. I mean, I haven't been in contact with any other forum projects about a theoretical userbase migration, but I'm just saying if I had dreams of starting "Steve Youngblood presents Neoneogaf.com" and pitch that everything would transfer over, three things would immediately jump out at me.

1.) This is a really dumb idea and nobody would be interested.
2.) The chances of being litigated would be somewhere close to 100%
3.) Most importantly, I couldn't pull this off even if I was dumb enough to try. None of the volunteer staff (at least to my knowledge) had direct database access.

I never mentioned the actual database of the site itself (whatever format that is).
But modbot clearly kept track of a lot of things, since with simple chat commands commands mods could check ban history etc. So they was clearly some sort of log.
The question is how can that be used.

At the end of the day it'll be really easy to check if bans do carry over and are automatically detected.

He was defending people's ability to make a game of their own design. You can find Summer Lesson creepy and still say people are free to make it.

BC2 didn't need a lot of control points, since the environments were fully destructible. I agree with anyone who thinks BF:BC2 was the best shooter in the past decade. No contest.
Control points spread the battle out and make maps not feel small or like funnels into instant action. Before Battlefield BC2 maps felt big and did have a lot of traversal, you could have battles going on organically in plenty of different parts of the map. Controlling certain control points mattered and influenced the flow of battle. This is something that was lost in BC2. Control points were super close together, so really the idea of taking and maintaining while pushing the line was lost. By the time you were taking one, the previous one was already taken. Also they were mostly in a straight line, so battles were not spread out at all. Why even venture around the map when everything was focused on one specific area? Might as well just head there. I mean it makes sense why they took this direction for a modern online shooter, but the map size and scale of BF games was lost in BC2 and well thats why I dislike it.

Also control points were largely uninteresting, just kind of thrown on the map and whatever. In BF2, control points could be in a tv station where you could get on top with Helios, maybe fight up the stairs, or assault the front. I loved the intense battles that would happen at these more involved control points. Something missing in BC2.

My point is that from BC2 and on honestly map design in Dice game has not favored size and scale, but rather making sure the player has things to shoot. Which makes sense as it become console inclusive.

PUBG feels more like classic battlefield than anything from BC2 onwards. tearing ass across open country to some donkey fart part of the line where you spend most your time kicking your feet up and shooting the breeze with your mates, with every engagement feeling like a discrete little narrative on its own - rather than just the sustained michael bay amp to 11 mush that modern BF feels like.

that and the jank, the beautiful jank.

I don't think anyone was actually defending evillore as opposed to calling into question the context of the entire night.

From all indications evillore was a lot more right leaning than the people he chose to run his site. Why did he do that? Seems odd. He's just THAT stupid i guess?

I have honestly been rethinking my life over the last few days. All these years I've spent excoriating pineapple pizza. If it was so much as mentioned I would write an essay on its depravity. Saying pineapple on a pizza was a sacrificial ritual where you chant kali maaa kali maaa and then throw the whole thing into a lava pit. Saying pineapple on a pizza symbolized the very worst aspects of modern art. It wouldn't be exaggerating to say that hating on pineapple pizza was a major part of my life.

So this weekend I tried a pineapple pizza.

I swear to god I didn't know. I didn't know. It was banana peppers all along. Big, juicy, pickled banana peppers. That's what makes the pineapple work. I would never have thought of fighting juice with more juice, but in my dark mood the seeming perversity appealed to me. I'm crying. It's a new world.

Nah it's better without peppers. But welcome to the team I get!

I thought the Evilore Defence Force was bad in this thread a few days ago.

Naw, 100x worse on GAF right now.  :lol So many bootlicking scum and hypocrites showing their asses.

I don't think anyone was actually defending evillore as opposed to calling into question the context of the entire night.

From all indications evillore was a lot more right leaning than the people he chose to run his site. Why did he do that? Seems odd. He's just THAT stupid i guess?

I never understood it.  EL always struck me as a pre 2006 style gamer/poster on GAF.  Even when he would virtue signal it never came of as authentic, certainly not in a "true believer" SJW style way like insane mods like besada.

Hell half the time I'd read EL's posts and be like, yeah that would get anyone else piled on or banned.   So WHY WHY WHY would he let that shit infect and destroy his forum?   I mean it was obvious to anyone with half a brain that the SJW crap taking over NeoGAF was running off quality posters, never mind the pogrom bans for WrongThink.
