The only thing negative about this place from the perspective of an outsider is that there doesn't seem to be a lot of discussions going on, and the ones that are going on are filled with in-jokes and shitposts... which is to be expected when you have a small tight-knit community that's been around for over a decade.

you buy some server space and stick some good forum software on it, then do add-ons, customize the style sheets, etc. hell, use phpbb for all i care

you look into migrating to this down the road when your servers collapse due to E3

It's dying a slow death. Lowtax probably mismanaged SA to an even greater degree than Evilore. He had legit million dollar opportunities to cash out and at one point that site was a huge part of internet culture. SA went through similar issues as GAF where it became overrun with unpaid catlady moderators who were very ban-happy. Thing is, you gotta pay 10 bux to get an account there. And 10 bux for an avatar. And 10 bux for search. And 10 bux for archives. etc. And if you are banned, you lose all of the upgrades you've paid for.
