1)Make a "Politics" and a "Politics in gaming" containment board, or at least this is what this place needed before, in my opinion.
I like how these people including Evilore still don't understand what happened.
The people they're blaming for "inserting politics" disagree with the entire notion that you can separate politics from, well, anything. Everything is a front for politics, or maybe more accurately the culture war part of politics.
And they're right. You can certainly wall off electoral politics, but that was never your problem other than how it filled up the OT every time Trump tweeted or thought about tweeting or didn't tweet fast enough. Your supposed problem was the infection of ideology, of philosophical views, of social and cultural views into the regular everyday discussion. And rooting that out? Especially now? Not sure how you do it. People will want to talk about that stuff, especially as it hits the media which loves it increasingly as they need the clicks.
Sure you can say, Evilore is innocent until proven guilty, it's he said, she said. But the JonTron stuff is harder to dismiss so easily, the forum can't accept "don't like it, don't watch/buy it" because then that becomes acceptable to the real issues like loot boxes or Switch icons. And that's thread shitting, the biggest crime of all.
And what about when EVENTS happen like the Las Vegas shooting? Or Evergreen College? Or somebody gets an F for swearing in their writing? Or nobody can get a job and student loans? Or when Hillary Clinton is finally sent to prison for treason?
It's actually more of an unworkable dynamic than before, because now you're relying on mods not to police what views are acceptable, but what topics AND views are acceptable.
But then, this was never the actual problem, the actual problem was Evilore's actions. He needed a scapegoat, and even the magical words "Gamergate" didn't work. Neither did "scientology cult roofied me" which allowed the mods and community to victim blame Evilore just because she was bi.
