Surprised to see all the GC love, it always seemed to me that people loved to rip into the little purple box back in the day. I did prefer the GC to most post-SNES systems, though it didn't get nearly the playtime the PS2 did. Some decent third party games - it was nice to have some great RPGs and quirky games like Cubivore and Chibi Robo after the N64, but it was probably Nintendo's weakest first party lineup. Hated Sunshine, thought Wind Waker was one of the weakest Zeldas, and wasn't into the genre change of Metroid Prime. But Smash was fucking amazing.
Let's see:
1. SNES - Best library out of all their systems, best Mario/Zelda/Metroid
2. NES - Loads of classic games, especially as far as 2D action platformers go. Lots of hidden gems too.
---
3. GC - big jump down from the SNES/NES, but see what I said above.
4. Wii - So many shit games, lots of tacked on waggle that ruined otherwise great experiences. But Xenoblade and Sin and Punishment 2 redeemed that gen for me.
5. WiiU - A few great games, but a pitiful library, short shelf life, and that shitty tablet hurt it.
6. N64 - Aged like shit, ugly graphics, terrible controller, low framerate.
Switch - who knows? Like I said it could be top 3 material if it gets more stuff like Octopath, Golf Story, SMTV, DOOM.
