I can see them having the potential numbers. I just can't understand why they're so terrified of 4chan trolls that they delayed the launch over it.

It's their whole philosophy.

And I don't political or anything like that, I mean the philosophy behind how they're setting about in putting a forum on the internet for people to post on.

The forum itself is the last step in their minds. It's first decide on admins. Then draft a 9000 word manifesto. Then order nobody talk to the outside world. Then send the story to a reporter. Then pick the mods. Then create The Bunker subdiscord for people to hide in. Then setup a vetting and screening process to decide who the first posters are allowed to be. Maybe they're working on what topics should already be started when the forum opens. Then eventually open the forum. That they're paying some absurd service for rather than doing it like anyone else ever is just bonus.
