I’m not sure about snappier, but it’s the first major Windows 10 update that didn’t fuck up anything, so good on them for that.

That's been there since the last update I think.

Entirely possible, I hadn't noticed it but lots of "tech expert" articles started talking about it recently. Which probably means it's really been there since Windows 8.

Nah, they introduced Night Light back in like May. The problem is, you can't adjust the color so it's this weird orange-y hue which doesn't really help too much. Flux and other 3rd party apps help. Same issue with Android.

This update adds convenient emoji support for physical keyboards, Windows key + "." or ";". You can tab through categories or type a word to search. Still only works for en-us keyboards unfortunately.

My laptop has been "preparing" for the creators update for months. Now there is this, and I still don't have the last big one?

Spend $1500 on an HP Spectre only to be left in the dust. I tried updating some drivers manually, like the Intel ones and the program auto-cancels and boots up your browser to the HP support website with drivers from last year. ... but this is a 2017 model?

Terrible investment. Should have stuck with my own gaming PC. Next time I go laptop shopping maybe I'll get one of those Surface laptops. Microsoft actually supports those right? Like Google supports their own devices (Nexus/Pixel) with firmware and such?

Did the voice to text come out on the virtual keyboard for this release? Cause it's great for small phrases especially if you use Windows as a tablet.

The store icon/name change is just an update to the app store app, it's not tied to the OS update. The most obvious way to see if you have the OS update is probably to take a look at the notification center, it should look obviously different with centered notifications which have a "card" look, a more posh blur effect, the "clear all" button moved from the top to the bottom, etc.

the regular update and not the insider update with the mixed VR bullshit?

these are the same thing. Fall Creators Update = Version 1709 = Build 16299 = Redstone 3 = the one that started rolling out on Oct. 17 = the one that adds support for Windows Mixed Reality, etc.

yes. was added in Creators Update/Version 1703/Build 15063/Redstone 2 (I have to remember 79 different names for everything and I'm passing the pain on to you). I think RS3 tweaks it somehow.

the last codename was Threshold (Threshold 1 = original Windows 10 release, Threshold 2 = November 2015) which apparently is a planet from Halo. Redstone 1 was the 2016 anniversary update.

the next update (spring 2018) is still Redstone (RS4), dunno if they'll pick a new name at some point.

This took forever to install. So far nothing's broken though, so that's good.

Didn't even know to look for this. Anything that might make my ancient, crappy PC pep up a little longer is a welcome addition.
