Again, I've said it, so many times. But I'm still surprised that a generation that grew up with more freedom around sex and race than those before (not saying it's perfect, but certainly better than it was around our parent's age) would grow up to become neo-puritans.

And the thing is, from all the confessions and dickpics and non-anonymous confessions I got in PMs and the confessional, I know for a fact some of these puritans are just as bad as the people they deride. And again, having dealt with a puritanical religion that I was born into and didn't have much choice but to join, I'm constantly surprised how many people just so fervently throw themselves into the same toxic behavior out of choice. Why would you choose to do that? There's always someone more pure, there's always someone better, there's always someone more dedicated than you. That path leads to madness. Why follow it?

They are boring people given delusions of grandeur by a education system that is wreaked, media marketplace full of demons, and corporate ad men that gives these boring people the illusion that are somebody worth anything...

it's always been the same. It's like that french saying, "The more things change, the more things stay the same". We're biological beings with natural impluses. That is not to excuse certain behaviour, there is definitely a way in which we should conduct ourselves, it's just that you have to be realisitic. Some things are not so simple to fix, and certainly not when you deny the biological aspect of behaviour. You need to have a complete understanding of an issue before you can solve it.

When you take this into account it's not surprising how hypocritical some of these people are.

It has loyal fans but I wouldn't call it a cult. I'm always on the Apple and iPhone subreddits and they're pretty usually critical of Apple's shitty design decisions and things competitors do better (no headphone jack, notch on screen, etc). Honestly, the whole "Apple-sheep" is far more annoying and widespread than the Apple cult.

An example would be Kidman in Evil Within 1, some of the shoes in RE6 (though at least Helena has wide heels, make a little bit more sense) too. Please note I put brackets for realism and seriousness because heh... But still those are soldiers, cops and special agents entering trouble within their duties. Plus I don't think wearing flat sole shoes would radically change any of the designs.
I'm fine with Ada Wong because the character was always exuberant and absurd from the start and she's obviously a femme fatale.

Putting aside your other laughable commentary, one cannot make a unique experience for gamers by continuing to only cater to a small sliver of sexist, racist morons too afraid of The Other to embrace the creativity that diversity brings to the table. That way lies stagnation.

This post has me scratching my head. They should be catering to their audience which is overwhelmingly male. The majority of which aren't really asking for any of this crap, they just want to play a good game. That's not to say they can't cope with having a strong female character or minority, they're just not interested in the preachy, social justice worldview that these people are trying to push on to them.

The whole 'diversity brings creativity' bit I find especially irritating because in reality all it will bring is an incredibly sanitised experience devoid of all risk. The thing is, these people are never satisfied. It then becomes something about the way the minority or female is portrayed in the game; what she is wearing; certain scenes will be viewed as 'problematic' (e.g. TLoU2); It will be criticised for not having the right tone; The overarching message is not preachy enough. Basically catering to these people means limiting your artistic freedom through fear of upsetting whatever group decides to take issue with it. It's like making a game for a religious fundamentlist. You'll just be walking on egg shells the whole time.

What strikes me actually is how people like Bish will always read the worst possible intentions into everything people say. It's not just Bish doing this in the thread.

Here's another example:

Racism is broad, wide-reaching, engrained into our culture, and deeply systemic. To not notice "shades of gray" racism and blatant dog whistling is some woeful ignorance, or just a general acceptance of your average every day racism.

I find people like this absolutely insufferable. It's not just that he jumps to the worst possible interpretation and presents it as fact, it's the condescending manner in which he responds.

I think maybe a part of the whole paradigm shift happened when most of GAF woke up one day and found out they weren't funny or interesting people.
