Did not expect to get another kitty so soon after Rona passed but I saw an shelter ad with this guy on it and fell for him instantly. His name is Mac Mittens and he adapted really quickly for being a skittish guy. Less than a day and he was sleeping with us and zooming around the house full speed.

Ehh, I think so too, but I prefer the four-legged kind, and I'm scared of bugs, BUT that one is so big that I'd see it coming and could run away so it's not as scary

Maybe we shouldn't be creating animals that are so weak that they need to be "rescued" from nature itself. Personally I know i'd prefer to be euthanized than be owned like Michael Jackson's monkey, or forced into a circus like Shamu.

I’m glad you asked! As a tl;dr:

Tarantulas and other reptiles aren’t considered the same type of pets as cats and dogs. You wouldn’t keep your dog in a cage all day because a dog requires exercise, affection and other things. Tarantula needs are extremely low. They just kind of exist. They aren’t pets to cuddle with or be handled (I’ve held mine once, which was that picture when moving him into his terrarium), so they will be more than happy in a terrarium as long as you can recreate the sort of environment it requires (often high humidity and scheduled but rare feedings). It’s actually no different than keeping fish, actually. As long as you have the experience required, they’re doing perfectly well.

Tarantulas aren’t roamers, and most of them live in burrows and spend like 95% of their time just sitting in it. Sunny made his own lil burrow and he loves chilling in there.

I mean people keep birds in cages and it's seen as normal even though it's so clearly fucked up. I guess I can't see possessing a pet as anything other than an unkind and domineering act. The only thing in my life that brings me any sort of happiness is my freedom and if I didn't have that, I would have nothing. I guess I have an unhealthy amount of empathy

went out of town and had to take some pics of my friend's adorable old lady, Sisi. she's about the most loving puffball ever and lives to get pet as much as possible now...and as soon as you touch her she's full rev purring and drooling

exotic animals comes down to if you know what you are doing and what the specific circumstances are
naturally all sorts of wrong if you try and say domesticate a smuggled monkey, but not the case remotely here

I sorta inherited my younger sister's dog sometime in the past year (the pup has been staying with me since June.)

This is Sasha, she's a 1.5-year old something-mix.

Probably Chihuahua and beagle or something I dunno.

She enjoys KK Slider concerts.

She also has very soft fur and sleeps like an angel.

I used to think of myself as a cat person but in recent years started slowly opening up more to dogs... now I'm full-on ride-or-die for both. 🤷‍♂️
