Cool, let me know when they actually announce something for home because right now it's just an arcade location test.  :-\

Call me when we get really light guns that work on HDTVs.

Worst part of HDTVs was the death of accurate light gun games. All those Saturn/Dreamcast light gun shooters were awesome. I know the stages in Virtua Cop 1 & 2 by heart.

Don't think the last one ever got a home port.   :(

What about Wiimotes and Move?  The one good thing about the Wii was playing stuff like Ghost Squad.

4 did. I dunno about 5. But 4 was a PS3 port that used the Move controller IIRC.

During the location test they had a survey and one of the questions asked if you'd be up for a console port or not. So it's possible.

Yeah, saw that.  It means nothing right now.  So I'm not gonna get my hopes up because a lot of these kinds of games never make it out of arcades.  I'd be down for a home version of this assuming it turns out to be a good game.

Console port. Arcades are dead in the West. Outside of two (Dave and Busters which wouldn't invest on this probably, and Round 1 which would be has like 5-10 locations MAX) arcades.

I could see a PC port a la Typing of the Dead: Overkill. Speaking of which, I wish they'd put Typing of the Dead 2 up on Steam.

I actually think this would fit right in with the type of games the Dave and busters near me gets in. They have a whole row of light gun game cabinets where you sit 2 across. Some of them, like the ghostbusters one appears to be some sort of bespoke game commissioned by Dave And Busters.

There some other game that th y have that is basically House of the dead, but more reliant on jump scares.

My biggest fear is that this game will be more like those games, because the lgbt gun games they have are all very bad.

Also, not sure how a home port would work... I guess there really is nothin stopping a company from basically making a wiimote in a gun (except for those wily patents) and selling it for like 89.99 total.

Can joy cons do the 1:1 Wiimote?

I figure they could possibly if you had the sensor bar (or a couple candles), but I’m not sure it can do it otherwise.,

Have any games done something similar?

World of goo has a decent approximation of pointer controls using Gyro, not sure if it would be good enough for a House of the Dead game though. Apparently you need to recalibrate relatively often.

The Wii notes pointer really was IR, so the right joycon probably could do it with a heat source point of reference.

UPDATE: Our friends at Arcade Heroes confirmed with Sega that the target shipping date for a “limited number” of HOTDSD units is September, with a broader release taking place closer to November/December in time for IAAPA 2018. Word has it that several “big box FECs” saw news of the game earlier this year and placed orders, taking up the first planned production run. Either way, it sounds like it won’t be too difficult to come across this one later this year.

If I can play HotD5 at the Braintree Dave and Busters before the end of the year... omg

hey I just played this shit tonight! Well, I tried to, anyway. Something was fucked up and the gun wouldn't aim randomly, wouldn't shoot, and... Yeah, it was broken. I liked how there were lights inside the sit-down cabinet that would flash on and off, a gigantic subwoofer under your butt that would kick you, and fucking fans in the ceiling that would blow air on you. I'm in Japan for another week, so I AM tracking this game down in working condition.

I told a random dude and he gave me my 200 yen back, I went and played Initial D Zero instead. EUROBEEEEAT

it uses Unreal Engine and there are load times, but at least there are flashbacks to Dr Curien fuck yeah

How would a console port even work? It’s not like it could be a light gun game.

Couple ideas:

Every controller has gyro controls.

Switch has Joycons.

PS4 has Move.

Significant tweaks to get it working with analogue sticks are unlikely but still possible.

Maybe it's a different genre but using the same engine, story, and assets. Less excited if that's the case but still worth checking out.

Oh this is the new house of the Dead I played on a date. She was like let’s play this zombie shooter and I was like wait I recognize these enemy types! We spent like $20 and got a few stages in. Was fun but the mass zombie stream and machine guns made it kinda hold the button zzz a lot vs the precision shooting of the originals.

I’d play a home port for a few days, but I’d rather have a classic Virtua Cop/House of the Dead collection for modern systems if they can get light guns ever working again on lcd TVs.

The game with one of the best stories in gaming.

There are several light gun games for PS Move, including House of the Dead Overkill and Time Crisis Razing Storm. They work pretty well, but Move has some drifting issues on PS3. It seems to have been fixed on PS4; at least I haven't experienced it when using Move in combination with PSVR.

Edit: PS3 even got a new gun controller by Namco, Guncon 3, but I never used one so I have no idea how accurate it was.

Edit 2: This video says it is more accurate and doesn't have the drift problem.

I play HOTD2 with my 2 year old sometimes at GameWorks (Father of the Year LOL) and the "blood" is green.  I seem to remember that even in the Dreamcast version you had to play through the game before you could change the blood color to red.
