15 and was working part-time at a used/import video game store. During the summer of 1996, My boss paid a ridiculous amount of money to get several Japanese N64s and Mario (I think Pilotwings, too, but nobody cared), then put out these big signs that said "ULTRA 64 IS HERE!!!!!" It brought in a lot of people who foamed at the mouth over seeing the game running. (Still didn't top when they brought imported Playstations to Dragoncon before the system launched in the U.S. and showed off Toshinden- that was one of the most insane queues to try a game that I ever remember seeing)
And I didn't care at all. That was the first time Nintendo really let me down (I even wanted a Virtual Boy when it came out, lol) and I was way more impressed with the imported Jumping Flash! 2 at the time, which I think also had just come out. I'd put the game on demo opposite Mario 64 and it attracted an equal number of people for a while.

That was also the first time I saw a new Nintendo system that didn't come with everything needed to hook it up- no video cables were included. We were told
"they figure you probably already own SNES systems and will just use those cables." Found this funny. So fucking stupid.
