Man this is what Forever should have been. Could you imagine how much content that game would have had with 15 years of dev on the same engine? With all the retro stuff today people would have loved the shit out of it.

Ah well, what could have been. Would still love for one of those earlier versions of Forever to leak.

Bombshell was a completely different developer. The people making this [Voidpoint] started out making Duke3D mods/toolsets nearly 15 years ago, and they were going to release an Android port of the Duke games on a revamped engine before Gearbox's lawyers stepped in.

I wrote a cover story on Duke Forever for PC Gamer, but looking at the covers:

I cannot for the life of me remember WHICH one. I think it was the one after they'd switched to Unreal.

I had seen the demo at E3 in 1998. I remember being in a room with Broussard and Gary Whitta, and he was playing stuff from this video live. This was mind blowing shit at the time, remember that Half-Life 1 didn't come out until later that year. That might have been the same year we saw the original Halo demo.
