There is a long history of rich white people owning those labels for most black musicians, and they make a lot of money off them. Also, lol, um, black people invented rap dude.
WTF Cream. Look, I know you're quite young and weren't around at the time, but let me explain a little music history to you.
Basically, Eminem was friends with Tupac and Mr Big. Eminem felt bad for them because they were black so he used to support them at the open mic nights at the local comedy club. One day, Mr Big was very mad about his welfare check and he went on a rant in the club. Eminem thought that would sound great backed with music so brought them all into the studio and then he made Slim Shady and rap was created.
I know that Black people have borrowed that style of music and tried to make it their own, just like they did with Led Zeppelin, but that's cool. Like you said, punching up not down.
