Is there a summary somewhere of the accusations against Austin/coworker or whatever? I have no clue about any of it but see it referenced occasionally. Google leads me to nothing.
Before Austin got hired at Giant Bomb, we streamed together on a twitch streaming group called Streamfriends with a group of other people. The whole goal was to make a safe, chill space on twitch without judgement for whatever (sex/gender, orientation, race, etc, etc). Thing were going well and it lead to offshoots like their RPG podcast Friends at the Table. Then one day Austin sends out an email that there was an issue with one of the members of the streaming group sending dick pics to female viewers without consent. He also said that he cleared it all up and that coincidentally the victim asked that the sexual harasser not be named (his name is Andrew Lee Swan by the way, I linked his twitter above) and that they not be punished at all in any way. Weird. So I thought this was unacceptable and quit the group over this.
Years later the group sorta disbanded on its own, Austin got the job at GB and then Waypoint and went on to hire all of his friends to write articles and reviews for those sites. Whatever, that's to be expected. But then I got annoyed by the behavior of Austin and other members of the group as they piled on that Nick whatever dude from Polygon who was creeping on girls on Twitter but not acknowledging the issues at Streamfriends that they all covered up. So I posted about it on Twitter and Bore and got a bunch of people who monetarily benefited from Austin hiring them DMing me telling me to delete everything etc. I also got DMs from people who got dick pics sent to them and they outed who did it. I ended up caving and deleting my tweets over it anyway.
But it's just funny how this keeps coming up that Austin is Mr. Super Woke until it has a chance of hurting his pocket and then all conversation is shut down. And the dick pic sender is still a part of his patreon funded RPG podcast because why not, right?
