Games 'journalists' do nothing useful for me, publishers give out gameplay video, launch dates etc on their own shows/social media. longer form interviews (what i used to like mags for) have moved pretty much to youtube and AMAs etc, cant care about their reviews and II get my impressions from other gamers anyway.
A lot of my good will towards game journalism died during the Sarkessian and GG days. I mean, Gamergate is a shitshow in its own but when you have Jeremy Parish bitching against veteran dungeon crawler developers needing to make lewd games to find success...
I think things would have gone better for them if they continued with the doritos pope redemption tour. I remember people like RPS publishing notes that they wont take playstations and gifts from pubs anymore. Instead they went facedeep into the GG boogaloo
I think many game journos truly think they did a redemption tour for games journalism (like Waypoint or Polygon) but the reality is that they become more uncritical of some practices (dogpilling and click bait controversies) while calling out stuff that deep down most of them dont really care about (violence in videogames and lewd stuff).
Game journalism being so uncritical of stuff like Sarkessian and then remembering Jack Thompson when there is an actual threat of goverment intervention...
Boredfrom: Yeah they are ludicrous if they think their little anti-sexualization craze is going to do anything outside of maybe a few Western devs changing their tune, but that has far more to do with other industry issues like female employees and the like than what people are REEing about on forums.
lol dude, they dont care about female employees opinions when they are not in synch with "progress".
Remember when the WuVsAtari stuff happened and a lot of Reee dismissed female employers, or everytime that people bitch about Bayonetta and people mention that her characters designer is female?
