It's a legitimate musical genre, even if its not to your tastes. There is legitimate skill involved in creating good rap. The voice can be not just a melodic instrument, but a rhythmic one as well. Every musical genre has something to offer. You sound like a grandpa in the 50's complaining about Chuck Berry.

Genre snobbery is dumb. I have the classical station and the old-school hip hop station next to each other on my car radio presets. Fucking learn to enjoy shit, or let other people enjoy it.

The problem is the number of rappers with actual skill is so incredibly small.

The problem is that you're fetishizing skill in music way too much.  You're overestimating one person's worth because they have the sort of talent you value (practiced expertise at something you perceive as very difficult) while underestimating other people's worth because they're good at something you don't particularly respect (creating compelling music) even though the latter is at least equally important and just as difficult, if not more so.

I mean, I don't have a problem with you wanting to listen to the yngwie malmsteen of rap or whatever, but I don't think you're going to talk a lot of normal people into it.
