A note about the Woodward book. I was scanning through it and I kinda thought Woodward doesn't really protect his sources right? I mean we know he did not speak to trump and if there is a conversation with trump and person A, surely person A is the source?

The sourcing is very transparent that way. Also inevitably the sources put a positive spin about themselves and a negative spin on others. If someone emerges in a positive light in the book, you can best your ass that they were a source.

The biggest shock to me was - and I expected this person to be a footnote in the annals of history and in this mamoth elaborate trump drama - was the centrality of Rob Porter to this book. His name is mentioned hundreds of times, and it is a largely sympathetic portrait. The position itself being below the radar but extremely important, he's in most of the meetings and has copious interaction with trump. A result is I think this book is very vastly sourced from him. I bet he provided days and days worth of interviews to Woodward. His presence is so extensive. I might be wrong but I think he has to be the main source.

It seems like an attempt by a disgraced person to out of the blue rehabilitate their reputation. We since know that Porter is a wife beater and a horrible human being, but here he emerges as the voice of reason and the lodestar savior of America from trump's impulses. Did he con Woodward into putting up a rosy portrayal of himself?

Who knows. But that is why I think any book, whatever the caliber of the journalist, always reflects the sources. Every book can only capture some viewpoints which are interviewed for the book. Can we call it truth because it has Bob Woodward's name on it? It is certainly true in that Woodward probably reported what he heard from his sources. But were his sources truthful? Did he get all sides? Probably not.

I made two positive posts on ERA about Shadow of the Tomb Raider and of the two posts I got one single quote. The negative naysayers of ResetERA called me out as someone who was lying about the game which got the notice of two mods there from the complaints about the posts. I had to provide "sufficient proof" that I had played the game and show my whereabouts to one of the mods in order to "save" my account. They were arguing that I had a bias and that I shouldn't post my impressions or opinions that could be influenced. WTH is wrong with these folks? I got a soft warning of 72 hours of no posting, I don't post much on there anyways....

Our city newspaper has gotten awful. I used to read through it as a teen and a bit in to my 20s, but man, stories are no longer a thing. I'm sure there are a lot more male gay actors in Hollywood, but I'm not surprised a lot of people don't want to come out in public considering all the stuff that comes with it. Just saying, while I definitely see the problem, writting more gay characters especially in masculine (none-caricature) roles seems more important to me than what sexuality the actors portraying them may or may not want to disclose.
