White people have played a pretty large role in the history and popularity of hip hop for decades, this is not new or particularly shocking. Rick Rubin and Lyor Cohen were heavy players in the most important and influential hip hop record label. White people have been "curating" hip hop since the beginning, from Faith Newman exec producing Illmatic to Steve Rifkin signing Wu Tang. If you want to make an argument about representation I'd at least be more open to that. But that alone doesn't disqualify a white person from a job that basically boils down to stamping approval on decisions black artists/experts suggest to her.

PD only concentrated on the music element of hip hop. Hip hop is more than music; it's a culture. And white people have been a part of that culture from the beginning. A lot of the most famous taggers of the late 70's/early 80's were white. Hip hop transcends race even though it was made by black men and women.

I really don’t want to focus on the ignorance displayed within this thread, but it’s honestly distracting. Not only is this true of Death Stranding threads, but Kojima threads in general. I genuinely don’t care if anyone else likes this game or not. I do hope it does well, because I want him to continue to make games at a high level. But whether or not the next person enjoys the game, the material leading up to its release, or even the director himself - it ain’t no skin off my scrote. Which is why it’s annoying that a gaming enthusiast forum turns into a cesspool of ignorance and borderline-slander, delivered in the form of baseless, speculative hot takes, rather than an actual discussion of whatever it is we are seeing. When Kojima shows gameplay, we are subjected to a barrage of posts stating - as if it is fact - that what we see isn’t actually gameplay because it doesn’t follow an arbitrary standard that “gameplay” isn’t revealed until a gun is pointed at an animated target, the trigger is pulled, and the bullets hit said target. When Kojima shows a cinematic, we take a trip back to 2001, and get to hear all about Kojima secretly wanting to be a film director and using games as a gateway to get into Hollywood. When a member of the cast is revealed, Kojima is said to have an “inferiority complex” and have an obsession with movie stars - even if the cast member revealed is Troy Baker, who has spent an overwhelming majority of his professional career as a voice actor in the games industry... All of this, not even touching on the “Let’s face it: Kojima is overrated”-level of disrespect. As if he hasn’t been making games for thirty years. As if those games haven’t earned the critical praise - an average rating of 93% - and fan praise alike. Does that mean you have to like it? No, absolutely not. But to be so flagrantly disrespectful time after time, simply doesn’t make any sense to me. I don’t like Rockstar’s games. I’m not going to come at people who do like them, and then write them off as fanboys the moment they decide to take my bait and respond. The problem is, the baiting is endless here, in Kojima-related threads, and any time an actual, intriguing conversation regarding this game or any other of his begins to unfold, it is derailed faster than the disappearance of The Man in the Golden Mask.

People enjoying the ride, continue enjoying the ride. I know I will.

People not enjoying the ride, maybe focus on something you take enjoyment in and come back to discuss what you see from the game closer to release, if all you’re going to do is accuse someone of mindlessly wasting company resources without a shred of evidence to back such claims and share posts of similar quality. If you aren’t enjoying the ride, but still want to share your thoughts on what you see, then by all means, please share. The combat system, which many of you in this camp have been clamoring to see, will be shown, likely through Sony, review outlets, and early copy leaks on YouTube and Twitch. And even then, you don’t have to play the game day one - especially if you still aren’t sold by that point. No big deal. Waiting for more concrete information is perfectly normal and there’s nothing wrong with it.

There is something wrong, however, with driving by, at every available opportunity, to tell people that they don’t actually like what they’re seeing and that they’ll accept anything blindly, regardless of quality, as if they don’t have a mind of their own.

I hope that engaging conversation and interesting discussion can surround this game, because the people behind the game itself, are clearly putting a great deal of thought and effort into it.

Details will be released as he deems them ready to be. In the mean time, if youre questioning Hideo Kojima's ability to deliver gameplay he has a 35 year history of video game develop you can look to and see if you like his work. Meaning he was making games before most on this site were born, so check out some samples. His last game was Metal Gear Solid V, you should have a look, hes pretty good.
