the absolute rage certain people have against the "git gud" memes and shit (apparently "CONSERVATIVE BOOTSTRAPS MENTALITY" now) i just cannot fathom for the life of me, especially since i never assumed they were entirely seriously
i once got to play pickup with Marcus Taylor and played pretty competently against him and our side won both games
He was a Naismith All-American, McDonald's All-American, two-time Parade All-American and USA Today 1st-team All-American. He also went on to win Mr. Basketball of Michigan Award in 2000.
Taylor attended Michigan State University for two seasons before entering the NBA Draft. In just his sophomore season he became only the second player in Big Ten history to lead the conference in scoring and assists, and the first in MSU history.
under no circumstances do i have the impression that i could have even played at Michigan State, let alone any Division I school or Division II or a good Division III (or a bad Division III...girls team)
dude was a huge talker till he busted out of the NBA after falling to the bottom of the second round and getting cut without ever playing a game
i mention this to humblebrag, no but actually because he compares to the "pro" gamers, they only have short windows of careers and it's like in one game that they have to devote everything to
i had no expectations and still wouldn't of him taking me seriously in basketball (and he probably didn't in those pickup games except for certain parts), i wouldn't expect the same if i tried to play Street Fighter with somebody who actually knows combos bigger than two hits into a third either or try to do anything in StarCraft 2 or a MOBA, etc. once ages ago i was invited to a legit DoD clan from playing on their server a bunch and that was never even like a real pro ESPORT
tl;dr i was once the top unknown NBA draft prospect
