Tech companies need to be held accountable for not only stuff like this, but also policies aimed at making children addicted to their platforms. How have we let these monoliths pursue addiction in kids via algorithm for years without serious consequences?

I'm not a scholar by any means but it doesn't sound too different from worries resulting from the printing press, the rise of newspapers or mail screening by authorities (censorship in general) except now the volume of content pouring is so gigantic any potential screening is sounding more and more like a fool's errand unless you're willing to go full China (and then again it doesn't seem exactly airtight).

I don't think there's a magic solution to that problem anytime soon and I don't know how we can fix it without infringing on freedoms or the personal empowerment Internet brought to the table (it's not all suicide tips or Anarchists Cookbooks).

And with the way all these factions speak about the awards it seems like pretty much everyone grasps this and it's just a bunch of annoying indirect arguing and jostling over what they want the Oscars to be persuaded and influenced by besides just merit.
