With Naoto at least I have people close to me that really fit on how and why she acts they way she does but are not trans. With Kanji I feel it can go either way, and whatever that way is is not going to affect his character arc given that is more about societal insecurities while with Naoto you are truly destroying her arc.

update:

I tried to play the game again for some fucking reason so I could best the bat lady. I ended up breaking one of the buttons on my controllers because I got so pissed.

Blocking sucks, get used to swaping to low stance and dodging while wearing light enough gear that you get full movement. Game instantly becomes easier after that. This game expects you to at least do some minor stance dancing it's part of it's design.

Really enjoyed Horizon and liked Alloy as a lead a lot.

But maybe it's just me, but there seems to be plenty of female games this gen and last. And multiplayer games seem to give equal attention and representation to the female characters. Sure there's plenty to progress and improve on, but I don't think it's actually that bad.
