She's great at breaking down difficult subjects. I sometimes see fights on this forum between well-meaning people shouting past each other because one side thinks curiosity should be rewarded with in depth explanations and the other thinks curiosity is always disguised malevolence or laziness. She bridges that gulf of understanding much better than either derailing a discussion by demanding to be brought up to speed or by attacking people who genuinely wish to better their understanding. Next time you're in a Trans and related issues semantics quiz derail - either post a link to -- or ask for a link to one of her appropriate videos and then we don't have to watch people eat each other.

If Natalie's covered it - then it's likely one of the best breakdowns of the subject and she's patient and entertaining without being condescending. And she uses political language as a scalpel and a safety net for everyone watching. I imagine even quite hateful people could be reached by her entertaining breakdowns. I almost wish she'd do mainstream movie reviews and quantum physics explanations as a side job.

Comics are in a very unfortunate position as vanguards of difficult conversations - and they're doomed to failure if they try to stay current. Eventually life bypasses them and the avant garde becomes the Old guard and suddenly you go from being the reinventor of the sitcom to the dated edgelord or worse - the Maher or Dennis Miller because your audience aged at the same time as you did and you lost track of the current and it passed you by.

Safest thing is to stay in your lane and try to be Jerry Seinfeld, not Michael Williams.

Is there anything more quintessentially resetera than telling another culture to be offended by a joke about that culture?  From the small sample size of that thread it seems that people in the region find it funny or don’t give a shit and people living in the west (on a forum that will seize any chance to be outraged anyhow) are outraged.  The best part is people saying Jon Stewart never made these types of missteps when his output probably wouldn’t be approved on resetera if it aired today.

Lonewulfeus touched on this the other day, but half the posts in the PoliEra Discord at certain points were people telling B-Dubs who they thought should be banned.

It still is, I wish I had gotten some(more ) screen caps before they booted me.  At least more interesting ones, I was too busy being amused reading back through them that I wasn’t even thinking about saving them.  I’m sure the more militant resettler discord servers are the same as PoliEra.

Surprised this is the straw that broke the camel's back for you. The gaming press never served as a check on the industry, in my opinion. It's a clique of individuals that are looking to progress their career and ensure they can keep eating, which is whatever.

Not just that, much of the tech media is in bed with companies. It's not very unusual that journalists go to work for companies they write about months before. "Gifts" and "trips" here and there, and much is done by knowing the right person in that one PR company. And companies do ask for better votes on products.
