I dont get why people listen to gaming soundtracks outside of the game
I don't see how that's any different than listening to a movie soundtrack. It's music. People like to listen to music.

If it's been orchestrated for actual instrumentation, sure. Even something on better MIDI equipment. Otherwise:
BEEP BOOP BEEP is just nostalgia wanking, not an aesthetic.
What is the last game you played?
I’m working through
Oh, Sir… and
Horizon Zero Dawn on PS4, Disney’s
Fantasia on 360,
Monaco on Mac, and an unfortunate addiction to
DomiNations on iOS.
I can’t guess what you’re trying to prove with that question. Care to illuminate me?
To tell the truth, I think the bigger disconnect for me is that I didn’t play games during the Nintendo and Sega dominance era. I was planning on Apple ][ computers, and none of those are famous for their soundtracks.
I actually enjoy bitpop, so I guess I’m just feeling that without modification and out of its context, game soundtracks are like printing out a game screenshot and framing it as art.
Which, I guess I’d do for some games.
Hm.
