I'm the second in command. My boss is a great guy in some areas. Makes sure everyone is happy doing their jobs. Business wise though, he's 'eh' sometimes.
He has a tendency to delay things until the last minute. So now I'm doing his job while he is on holiday and lo and behold he didn't finish half the things he said he would.
Although he does help out from his holiday spot so that evens out I guess.
Clients being the worst? I concur. Some clients are the worst. On Monday I had some lady call about a DEADLINE and it had to be finished because otherwise she would tell everyone in her organization and network what a shitty outfit we are.
So I rush the bois and gals to get shit done and they get it done. The cronies she put in charge of it on her side call the next day: "Sorry we can't look at it yet".
"SO WHAT'S WITH THE RUSH AND BLACKMAIL ASSHOLE?" .. I'm sorry, I said: "Oh, that's too bad, maybe you can send us a new proposal for a date and time that would be more convenient for you."
I turn into a proper deadline Nazi though if clients act like the world is ending when we're 5 minutes late. I start to carpet bomb them and all their bosses with e-mails when they miss their deadlines. "I still haven't received a new proposal john, you were supposed to send it to us by 12:00 PM today. It is now 12:05 PM."
Pro-tip: People hate it when IT projects are actually delivered 'on time' because they can't blame the devs or agencies for delays and shitty results when they have to report to their own bosses.
