I've never watched a single episode of American Idol, The Voice, America's got talent, etc. Have zero interest.

But I've enjoyed watching eurovision the last 3 years or so. 2018 Finals are saturday.

I like to come in blind for the finals so I watch none of the prelim stuff so its all new to me on night of.

Some of the songs I've liked in the past few years that didn't win.

I don't know. I just like the show and the contest format. The music is super broad pop. Nothing generally edgy which would be a turn-off to me normally but I'm fine with it here. And I like the country format. I'd rather watch Eurovision than the superbowl at this point.

Spoiler: Song with the dumbest gimmick performance/performer gonna score high. Plus trading points between neighbour countries. Also they've got like Israel and Australia now

Yeah its fun to see the little politics that go into the voting. Many of the euro people I know, don't give a shit about eurovision because it seems cheesy and because its been there all their lives so familiarity invariably breeds contempt.

But I love all the little weird shit about it.

Eurovision is trash and Eastern Europe always bands together so the entire thing is rigged anyway.
If you think EU politics are difficult you should try your hand at Eurovision politics.

I still stan for Austria and Ukraine, I mean, my all-time favorite was a vampire called Cezar and here we had a Cesar and a vampire. Estonian opera singer was nice for the same reasons heh. Also Bulgaria's aesthetics spoke to that and Cyprus' fierceness too. If only it could have all come in the same package again. Cezar was truly robbed.
